Introducing Aeon Medical & Aesthetics Centre

So… whenever aesthetic clinics come to mind, people usually think – sterile, clean, efficient and, well, effective.

Typically the words, pampering, comfortable, and thoughtful (in terms of service and amenities, I mean) aren’t things that would go hand in hand with the initial impression of aesthetic clinics.

While I’m not quite one to say, given I have limited experience with aesthetic clinics and hardly any (truly) aesthetic procedures done, I will say that I have experienced clinics that aspire to be more aesthetic focused hence the vibe of the place is centered around the efficiency of their state-of-the-art equipment and clean surroundings as opposed to the soft, plush comfort and service you’ll get at your regular spa / beauty salon.

Why am I bringing this up? You may ask.

Well, since my introduction to Aeon Medical and Aesthetics Centre, I have popped by their place twice and in those 2 short experiences that I had with their staff and also the doctor (Dr Michael Kim), I will say that it has largely changed my mindset about aesthetic clinics.

IMG_6655

Sure Aeon is efficient and very much still an aesthetic clinic with lasers, needles and all sorts of aesthetic procedures (they do Medical Facials too, btw) but somehow the vibe of the place is attentive and largely service oriented so that you feel comfortable and welcomed at all times.

I am always warmly greeted when I step into Aeon and the facilities offered in the Centre are thoughtful and cozy (classy too!).

Now, I don’t mean for this entry to get too loaded with words but I feel that some points need to be highlighted and explained because, contrary to what we mostly know of aesthetic clinics, Aeon really stands out with their hospitality, patient staff and of course effective treatments.

As of writing up this post, I haven’t tried the treatments for myself (yet) but am scheduled for some, to better my skin and self, so I’ll share about them once I’ve gone through with it.

I can’t wait, really!

I know it’s almost funny to say that you can’t wait to get procedures, aesthetic or medical, done because it can be daunting and, truth be told, scary but trust me that at Aeon you will be well taken care of and pampered – in true Korean aesthetic clinic style, according to Dr Michael Kim.

It’s quite hard to really capture the feel of the place in pictures so I tried to do up a little video, that hopefully is fun for you to watch as well. After all, I have to make up for this wall of text, right? Ha!

The video is right at the end but I suggest you read more walls of text first! So you’ll know what I’m actually doing within the video and what I would like to showcase!

The Visits And Discussions Thus Far!

To give you an idea of what I had gone through thus far.

My first visit was really a get-to-know-me and consultation session where we discussed what my skin concerns were, what I wanted to do or fix, that sort of a thing. I think generally a lot of my concerns were more prevention than fixing a ‘problem’.

I think ultimately there are little bits and pieces I would like to be perfected (don’t we all?) but for the most part I am comfortable in my skin and confident of my own appearance. Plus, if I whined too much about my skin concerns I know some of you guys out there would kill me for it, heh!

So, the second visit was a skin check and I had to be present with zilch makeup so the doctor will be able to properly analyze my skin using the Visia machine.

IMG_6666

I’ve actually tried a skin analysis with a similar machine a couple of years ago. That was the wakeup call to start slathering on sun block and take better care of my skin so needless to say I was nervous about seeing my skin this closeup and on so many different levels once more.

Nervous but yet also curious.

Now I’m not going to divulge too much about the happenings because this trip was the one that I video-ed a little about, just to really show you how comfortable and nice the clinic is. There is also a separate room for an even quieter and chill alone time but that isn’t pictured because it’s mainly for patients to rest after a treatment or to wait while letting their numbing cream take effect so I didn’t want to go there and disrupt anyone if they were there.

That room will have to wait for another post!

Hotel-esque Powder Rooms and Lounging Areas!

But anyway, I guess I’ll highlight a couple more things that I genuinely liked and feel comforted about Aeon Medical & Aesthetic Centre upon speaking to Dr Michael Kim and being there myself.

Firstly, I love how luxurious and well equipped their powder room is. It’s where you are brought to wash your face prior to your treatment (if you’re doing a facial they will cleanse your face too, no worries) should you want to and it’s got super cute headbands and hair ties for you to choose from! All just to help prop your hair up while you wash your face, too cute.

What’s more they provide combs (that were really clean, I must add) and even hairspray for anyone to fix their hair with after a facial or aesthetic treatment. The whole room feels like a toilet walkway in the hotel, so luxe and so pretty.

The ‘general’ waiting room is also a favorite of mine because of how chill and bright the whole place is, almost as if it were a hotel lobby. There are drinks by the side you can help yourself with or have the kind staff prepare for you. The whole chill and comfortable vibe of the place really takes your nerves off any procedure that you’re looking to do.

Dr Michael Kim had explained that with this clinic, what he had aimed to do is to properly bring over the Korean culture of clinics. Not just the treatments and the efficacy of it but also the service and the vibe because in korea, service in clinics is a huge thing! I agreed that local aesthetic clinics aren’t quite the same as Dr Kim’s description of Korean clinics. The treatments itself is the star attraction and focus isn’t placed as much on service since the idea is if you’re visiting a doctor, you can’t expect to be treated like royalty, right?

In a way there’s nothing wrong with that general aesthetic centre mentality but I guess Aeon Medical & Aesthetic Centre is bridging the gap between clinical efficiency and also indulgent pampering.

If you, or anyone you know, are/is looking for a place to consult for aesthetic procedures or for skin bettering options, I do highly Aeon Medical & Aesthetic Centre.

Objective (and Comfortable!) Consultations

IMG_6689

I know this is getting lengthy but I do want to mention a final point – unlike other places where consultation can feel a little daunting either because the doctors are looking to sell you treatments or not properly listen to your concerns before recommending a treatment, I will say that is completely not the case here.

Dr Michael Kim listens extremely attentively about all your concerns and objectively consults with you about how much of a concern an issue is and to what measure should treatments be done.

IMG_6707

Such that you don’t have to go through with too invasive a procedure when the result could be achieved through a milder way, or if a certain treatment would leave little to no effect on you (psst, I had no idea that people with chubbier cheeks should actually not go through with Botox because it’s not as effective, no aesthetic doctor would tell you that!).

Truthfully Dr Michael Kim will discuss all matters with you objectively and his presence and tone is calm and comfortable to be around too so trust me, it will be a completely changed aesthetic experience from what you know or have experienced before.

The Nitty Gritty Stuff…

If you need anymore reassurance about Dr Michael Kim, a little backstory about him was that he started as a Family Physician when he first arrived to practice medicine in Singapore.

It is required, by law, that all foreign doctors are registered and licensed before they are allowed to practice privately and own a clinic and Dr Michael Kim is fully registered and also a member of the Singapore Medical Association and Society of Aesthetic Medicine of Singapore.

He had also explained that his time as a family physician has also allowed him to treat other common illnesses and further understand how the body works which helps give him a more holistic idea about aesthetics. While not completely related, a good doctor is one that understands the whole aspect of the picture and sees the whole being, rather than skin being skin and hair being hair separately.

Purple Divider

If you’ve always been too afraid to step into an aesthetic clinic but yet so curious about it at the same time, I really recommend Aeon Medical & Aesthetic Clinic.

In this day and age where almost everyone is getting some aesthetic treatments done to better their skin (be it IPL, Laser or others), it’s really not so much a taboo anymore to consult and understand your skin a little better.

IMG_6730

I think being informed about how you can better yourself (with the right person, definitely) is good to know and whether you want to carry through with it is a choice you can then make after.

There’s no harm in knowing, right? ;)

Okay, enough talk, here’s the video! Enjoy! :) – Watch it on Youtube here.

Meeting Troy Surratt, Plus Surratt Mentions to Come!

Hello everyone!

Hope the weekend was awesome for all! I spent it running a couple of errands and it doesn’t help that end-of-year is bogged with birthday celebrations on top of the already gifting-filled festivities so yes, loads to sort and loads to do!

But before I went into my fairly beauty-free weekend (just the usual slap-and-go weekend face – might want to do an update on this!) I had the honor and privilege of meeting and speaking to a Makeup Maestro – Troy Surratt of Surratt Beauty!

I appreciate the quiet, casual and intimate meet up where I got to speak with Troy 1 one 1 without having to jostle with a crowd or speak over journalists / editors that may have a job to do as opposed to my own conversations spawned of personal interest, not so much because I have an article to put out.

Given that, of course I had to grab a photo with him too right? Who knows, the next time he’s back it could be a full out proper press event whereby it would be almost impossible to speak to him much less grab a picture then, yes?

So anyway, before I proceed I would like to say that the initial plan was to talk about Shupette today but I’ll have that scheduled for tomorrow instead, alright?

Let me bask in the thought of having met Troy Surratt last Friday a little longer because it’s not everyday you meet the founder of an established makeup brand and get to talk makeup and dig out some exclusive information on where the brand is headed in terms of products and direction!

I don’t believe I’m permitted to reveal it all – he did disclose it out of goodwill seeing my interest and excitement – but I guess all I can say is that the brand is truly starting to shape up and it’s so awesome to be able to witness it grow from a (really gifted) baby to now a blooming personality.

It’s amazing, really, and the fact that Troy (despite his brand’s success and coverage) is all humble about it genuinely pleased and appreciative when his products are being praised is really heartwarming to me.

It’s been about a year since the launch of Surratt and the brand has done pretty well, from what I gather at least, yet that doesn’t stop Troy from being constantly curious on ways he can continue to improve and expand the brand to satisfy his own beauty benchmarks and goals for the brand, which in turn turns out to be great for us because what we get here are well thought out products with superb quality and usability in them.

I mean, the brand even has a teeny tiny mascara solely for bottom lashes – complete with a smaller spoolie head and a formula that prevents messiness upon application. If that’s not well thought out I don’t know what is!

p.s.

I didn’t explicitly mention but for those who may not know, Troy Surratt is actually Kevyn Aucoin’s Protege and they have close relations, working together for a long time. It’s a known fact but one I didn’t think to disclose as I was introducing him because at this point he (Troy) is famed enough to stand on his own without that title constantly attached to him (at the point of intro) but of course it is a good bit of his history to learn after all has been introduced about him.

Upcoming – The Brushes & Spring 2015

Alright, I don’t want to ramble and gush too much about my own excitement in having met Troy, so let me move on to talk but to sum it all up, I guess you could say that after having met and spoken to the founder of a brand like Surratt, I have attained a new level of admiration for both the man and the brand.

So, moving on to something that would interest you all a little more, upcoming stuff!

I can’t say too much really because we weren’t formally introduced to the items that would be coming up and a lot of it is actually hush hush for now, in the works and all so let me kick this off talking about something that is confirmed and already launched in some parts of the world – Surratt Beauty makeup brushes!

At first I wasn’t sure if we will ever get a piece (or a few pieces) of these given, you really never know when a brand is being represented and distributed and not here ‘on their own’ if that makes sense, but turns out, yes we will get them eventually!

Stocks aren’t in yet but if you’re looking to cop a feel of how delicately soft and fluffy these are, there is a tester set available for your feeling pleasure at the Surratt counter over at Takashimaya.

I’ve done my fair share of stroking these beauties and I’m just waiting for them to be out already.

The face brushes are the ones that catch my fancy a little more because that blush brush (2nd from left) and highlighter brush (4th from left) both look so good.

The eyebrushes aren’t too bad but the ones present seemed a little big and fluffy for my eye area though it’s good to note that we don’t have the smallest blending brush (amongst the testers) yet.

No I don’t have Spring visuals, so have some of Surratt’s Fall look instead, heh!

The confirmed aside, I guess Troy wouldn’t mind it too much if I snuck in some Spring mentions because it’s pretty exciting business!

See, I’m sorry, I’m quite horrid at keeping beauty secrets. Heh!

For Spring we’re looking at bases (finally!) and also some lips – mainly the Lip Crayons which I personally prefer. The lipsliques are lovely for that sheer juicy pout but I love me some intense saturation and I can never turn down a vibrant colored matte lip look – très chic.

The one shade I’m eyeing (that’s coming in Spring) is a orange-orange lip color that is endearingly named after Troy’s little pup, Clementine!

Purple Divider

Okay I think I’ve said enough and I really let myself ramble away in this post. My bad!

Apart from the chat and photo, I got to take some pieces back with me add to my humble yet already growing stash of Surratt. Troy selected a couple of bold lip crayon shades for me after learning that I preferred the look that these give to the lipsliques and that bold lips are typically the way I go.

Okay, maybe I’m in a bit of a lazy neutral rut these days but it’s so easy to go back to bold lips when you’re feeling uninspired.

Lips aside, I also marveled at the brow liner when he was talking about it so he placed that into my bag as well.

So this is where my Surratt stash stands at as of now!

I have some snaps and looks done up prior to meeting Troy and acquiring these new items so I’ll probably still put those up as planned and if anything, I may even throw on another look after the mention of these new items!

I mean… I don’t think anyone is opposed to a Surratt spam, right?

If anything, if you’re super eager to read about Surratt first, I do have an overview posted a while ago so check that if you haven’t!

Interestingly, I was told that the counter-space that we have here (at Takashimaya) is more luxuriously spaced than small and cramped counter-top they have in New York. But I suppose that’s a given, since real estate is a lot pricier there – Troy’s joke, not mine!

Though I heard that they are given a fair enough treatment at Liberty in London so, if you’re ever heading there this end of year, it’s probably worth checking their space out there too (and the brushes)!

That said, I’ll leave all this about Surratt here for now and head on over to give Shupette it’s worthy mention before coming back to this.

Given how much there is to mention these days and how much there is within each mention – e.g. the many products within Shupette and such – I feel some sort of orderliness in grouping the mentions together for easier reference and flow, I assume? Rather than hoping about too much and leaving the readers confused about what I could be talking about this time around.

Though of course it’s not like a product will be swept under the carpet once it’s dedicated mention is over. If anything, you all know how it goes on here, I often dig up oldies to rediscover and re-feature even if it means taunting you about Limited Edition goods, heh!

So anyway thank you for reading! We’re on to everyone’s favorite kitty cat tomorrow :)

Love Your Skin – Jet Concepts Liquid Laser Treatment & Skincare!

My previous experience with Jet Concepts had left me with nothing but good thoughts and good results to take away from.

Now whenever anyone ask me for a facial recommendation (“I want results with just one session!“) and didn’t mind compromising on that whole spa mood and ambience, I would direct them to Jet Concepts.

Though, I will always preface a Jet Concepts entry with this: If you’re seeking a relaxing, soothing and completely spa-like treatment then this isn’t the right place.

At Jet Concepts, they specialize with using state-of-the-art equipment that is otherwise found in doctors and aesthetic clinics. What they do boast is genuine results immediately and a continual improvement of your skin over the next few days along with the effects sustaining for a few months even!

Before you start wondering, no this isn’t an aesthetic procedure and there isn’t any downtime with their procedures. Perhaps the usual post-facial redness sometimes but from my experience (and what I have heard / seen), everyone walks out with glowingly healthy skin.

You really have to try it to believe it!

I’m actually really late with my mention about this, my bad, as it got pushed back and a little forgotten along the way, seeing as I had this treatment done just before the Chinese New Year festivities!

Though, finally, here are my thoughts about it! Fret not, I had everything jotted down post-facial so most points were written fresh-from-the-oven and I’m not trying to recall a 2 month ago facial experience here.

Now with that long essay, I shall finally got to the point!

The Liquid Laser Treatment –

With my recent trip down, I got to learn about and also try out their Liquid Laser range of products along with the complementing Jet PR3 Facial.

Since I am still collecting my thoughts for a proper entry about their Liquid Laser products (because skincare reviews can be so tricky sometimes) I will first share this skin-prepping treatment and my thoughts about how it would help introduce you to the Liquid Laser skincare range.

For my treatment, I dropped by the Wheelock branch and after a short presentation about some key points of the Liquid Laser treatment, I was whisked away to the Jet Concepts treatment rooms to begin.

I was honestly quite excited (for the end product) and a little apprehensive because, as I had mentioned, comfort isn’t really what they are selling at Jet Concepts.

Most of the treatments aren’t exactly painful but you’re not coming here to zone out and relax (entirely) either.

A large part of your experience depends on your treshold for discomfort and weird but let’s just say that with a whole bunch of cool machines that do various different, and odd, functions, you never really know what you’re getting yourself into!

STEP 1 – Makeup Removal

The first step, of course was to have my makeup removed!

This is prior that, of course.

Step 2 – Aromatic Relaxation

Just before beginning, the therapist performed an aroma-relaxation technique with peppermint oil. It was a nice touch given that Jet Concepts isn’t focused on providing a spa-approach.

STEP 3 – The Jet Stream Cleanse

After your skin is cleansed of all impurities on the surface and you’re nicely settled, the Jet PR3 Facial starts proper with the Jet Stream machine.

An equipment hailing from Israel, and exclusively available at Jet Concepts, the Jet Stream clears your skin cells from blockages by sweeping up sebum, dead skin cells and dirt from both the surface of the skin and also deep within.

I don’t have a shot of this in progress but what it does is blasts a (controlled and fine) jet of water on your skin while a vacuum sucks that water back up almost instantly.

How this helps is that the fine stream of water will stimulate and cleanse the surface of your skin as well as rinse through the initial layers of the epidermis, thus ridding it of any dirt and dead skin build up.

You will be left with skin that is properly purified and cleansed, prepped to better absorb products. The exfoliation process also helps to clean out some white / black heads causing your pores to look a little more refined and cleansed as well.

Naturally your skin will look and feel a lot smoother immedaitely after this step.

STEP 4 – The Dual Ray Light Stimulation

After cleaning your skin out, it’s time to jolt your skin cells awake!

We have our sluggish moments and days, that goes the same for our skin cells as well and sluggish skin cells would interfere with the absorption of products as well as inevitably slow cell renewal down. So what this step does is to perk those cells up again, like a little wake up zap (that is non-invasive and painless – though I can’t say the same for itty bitty facial hairs!)

One way to do that is via light therapy.

Typically different rays of light work different wonders on your skin and to expose yourself to Red Light and also Infrared Light, one would have to ‘light-tan’ yourself twice – first with the Red Light equipment then again with the Infrared Light equipment.

However, here at Jet Concepts, they have a unique Jet Dual Ray machine (that is again, unique to Jet Concepts) that allows you to expose yourself to both Red Light and Infrared Light at the same time. This shortens the procedure down and doesn’t compromise on the results either!

The purpose of using these select two lights would be because Red Light helps fuel your cells with essential energy (to repair themselves and go about happy / healthy cell activities) while Infrared Light heals the skin and reduces any inflammation (almost like pacifying your skin after this treatment).

In terms of how this treatment felt, it was honestly quite okay and the only ‘scary’ bit would be the frying of facial hair which could cause some alarm but it isn’t painful (at least not to me) and I didn’t feel any discomfort on my skin otherwise.

There is certainly no horribly scary crackling or bright zap of light on the skin, it’s a more calm and toned down version of the IPL, that’s for sure. Not startling at all, I assure you.

I don’t want to go on too long on this point but by ‘waking’ your skin cells up, it also helps to improve the radiance and overall complexion of your skin, given that your skin cells are now all up and about, getting their job done.

STEP 5 – Laying on the Liquid Laser Essence

After your skin is nicely prepped – cleansed and jolted awake – the therapist will then massage on the Liquid Laser Essence.

This Liquid Laser Essence is the most potent combination of the active ingredients found in the Liquid Laser range and this product alone isn’t available for purchase (given how packed with awesome it is).

It is used within the Jet PR3 Facial as a way to kick-start your journey with the Liquid Laser range and deliver a nice / potent dose of skin-healing, hydrating and skin-refining properties.

Right After the Facial (Half-face Comparison)

At Jet Concepts the therapists typically work on one half of your face first so you can have a direct comparison with some of the immediate effects of the treatments.

I tried to snap it but I’m afraid, in photos, it doesn’t look all that much different. Probably due to the quality and lighting conditions, but in person I did notice the post-facial side of my face being a lot smoother, cleaner, radiant and more supple.

Here are some shots (taken on my mobile) of my skin right after the facial was done.

I really liked how clean and flushed my skin looked that I didn’t mind walking about Orchard without foundation after. The only stitch of makeup I had on was brows and some lipstick for color, so I don’t look like I wandered to town after I woke up – bedhead, bareskin and all.

The Jet PR3 Facial is meant to be accompanied with the use of the Liquid Laser Serum and Cream so I was quite religious in that and immediately kick started my skincare regimen that night.

Though my thoughts about the skincare products will be for another post. In the meanwhile let me wrap up my thoughts about the Jet PR3 Facial process with some really right-smack close up shots of my face looking less than perfect, hurhur.

My Thoughts After the Facial… (Face Comparison Shots)

I took a snap shot of my face the night before the facial procedure because my skin was going through some tough times, breaking out a little with a little dullness and some clogged pores on certain parts of my face.

I believe I was going through a bit of a hormonal shift at that point too (no no, not pregs) hence my skin acting up.

Before the Facial

Right after the facial session, I got home and snapped some proper pictures (with my camera) for a better comparison

The Night After

While I had a little redness and flush from the treatment, my skin was looking good overall with a nice radiant glow to. It was looking healthier and importantly, felt a lot cleaner.

It looks a tad shiny due to me snapping these after a journey home while I had a rich essence slicked on, as opposed to the ‘night before’ photo where I was fresh-faced from a wash.

After the facial, I’ve noticed that my skin no longer had a dull and tired complexion to it, in turn making me appear a lot more rejuvenated and well-rested as well!

Since the Jet PR3 Facial is suppose to ignite continual skin renewal and regeneration for up to a month, your skin is suppose to carry and improve its radiant glow gradually through the following days after the facial.

To (somewhat) showcase that, I have snapped some pictures of my skin about 3 days after my facial session.

3 Days After

My skin is still looking a little flushed from the exfoliation (my skin is a little sensitive that way) but it just appears red and I don’t have any irritation due to that. Though what is evident is the soft glow my skin has along with how smooth and refined the surface of it appears to be.

I have foundation on in the shots below but I didn’t use any skin refining base and I’m amazed at how smooth the foundation goes on.

Wrapping this incredibly long entry up, I think that it was a good idea for Jet Concepts to market a facial session that helps prep their consumer’s skin before they pick up a new range of products because sometimes when we use a certain range of items and hardly see an effect, we attribute it to the product being ineffective when, for all we know, it could just be our skin needing a little prep and cleanse for the product to truly penetrate the surface and unleash its ingredients!

As with my former experience with Jet Concepts, I left with an immediately improved complexion, cleaner and better skin over the course of just 1 session alone.

They certainly do live up to what I remember them to be from my previous encounter – effective and immediate results in minimal time (and sessions)!

Benefit Sets Foot in the West – New Store at Westgate!

To say that Jurong is slowly and steadily becoming the town outside of town is true with new and rather well-stocked / assorted malls like JEM and Westgate sprouting out across what used to be plain lands just a few years ago.

I have never disclosed where I reside (I don’t think?) but I guess these days I can proudly say that I am a Westie – born and raised in the west coast. Pretty literally.

Though, back to the point of this entry.

If you are a west-sider and also a fan of Benefit be it their makeup products or their brow services, you would be glad to know that they have set foot in your turf and are sitting quite pretty in Westgate right now (beside Yves Rocher, another brand for another entry).

I popped down with Mabel (of Sheshopsmakeup) for a look-see at the cheer and fun of the store opening and it was quite an evening.

Apart from the cheery colors and decor befitting of Benefit, we had some cabaret performances, the official ribbon cutting along with a pair of chirpy hosts (Munah and Hirizi) who were perfectly in-character as Dr Feel Good and Honestleah.

Not forgetting, Benefit’s iconic mascot ‘Simone’ took to the stage for an opening address.

I think the Benefit team did a great job and went all out to amp up the mood and bring to life Benefit’s tongue-in-cheek personality along with the vibrant burst of colors.

The event was fairly straightforward and not too much for me to report about but it was a job well done and I believe the hectic day and nights of preparation for the store opening really paid off!

Once the ribbon cutting was officiated, we were unleashed upon let in to the store where we got to wander around, play with brand new testers (whoop!) and in the midst of all that, had a little questionnaire to complete for a shot at the Lucky Draw.

The questions were simple enough, pointing to their classics but it was fun no less. The hardest bit was probably this ‘silhouette wheel’ where you had to guess the product of the silhouette you landed on.

Thankfully I landed on a product that was easy to decipher at a glance (the Ultra Radiance Re-hydrating Mist) though upon closer inspection after, most of the silhouettes are quite possible to make out. Save for that one or two really tricky ones!

We played with a couple of photobooth props inbetween and had quite a laugh at the life-size inflatable mascara. I swear that sounds a lot more decent than it could come off.

In all, it was a fun evening and if you’re staying / working in the West region or heading there anytime soon, feel free to drop by the new and shiny Benefit boutique at Westgate (at #02-15)!

There is a dedicated Brow bar so if you are a fan of Benefit’s brow services, you will be glad to know that there is now a closer brow fix to you! Based on my knowledge the only other counters that they do brow services at would be ION Orchard and TANGS?

Overall, I had an enjoyable time at the store opening and am glad for a Benefit boutique closer to home. Probably not a wise thing to disclose but I do frequent the Jurong East area a fair bit on days we want to head out but aren’t too sure where to go.

I’ve had my fair share of encounters with Benefit and while it isn’t frequent, I have loved the products I have tried thus far (Porefessional and Gimme Brow) so do share, what are some of your Benefit loves?

Dior Backstage Studio – New Boutique with Opening Promotions!

Look who’s got a new space in town!

Opening along the stretch of beauty boutiques at ION Orchard (B2, right infront of Orchard MRT), Dior edges an edgy dash of Backstage flair amidst the other white and brightly lit beauty stores.

It’s exciting to see this part of ION Orchard becoming quite the beauty hub with Shu Uemura, YSL, Chanel, Estee Lauder and more, all in a row! Who would have thought!

Though back to Dior!

This new flagship boutique titled Dior Backstage Studio is just that – meant to mimic the energy, spunk and of course artistry that happens backstage at a runway show.

From the decor of the the store space, you’ll see it is quite a different vibe from your usual Dior counters with glossy black walls and bright strip lights running across the walls and floor. It seems to be pulsating with vibrancy even though much of the store is dark.

The store space isn’t too huge but comfortable enough to browse in and the thematic display helps too as you have a corner for nails, another space for all the lip products and another with all you need for an eyelook!

Speaking of which, this is also the only Dior store in Singapore that carries false lashes!

The lashes are displayed with these unique ‘hooks’ that allows you to preview what your look would be like with each pair. It’s quite genius really, and great fun to try!

Apart from the exclusivity of these false lashes, Dior’s Backstage Studio also boasts exclusive products (such as the much talked about Air Flash), services and will also be the exclusive distributing point of some of Dior’s special collections to come.

We don’t have much word on it yet but all you have to know is if you truly want to shop Dior’s product line, this is the place to come.

We got to play around with the Air Flash Spray Foundation (retailing for S$88 at Backstage Studio only) and I was quite impressed with how it felt and looked in person. While mostly invisible, it has a soft sheen that looked very appealing.

I liked the idea of being able to use this as a quick ‘foundation’ for the body given how easy it is to work with for large areas of skin.

I’m still deliberating this but if you’re interested, you can head down to give this a try!

To best fit the Backstage concept, the makeup artistes (or Backstage Artists) here are cream of the crop, not only with their makeup skills and knowledge but also their vivacious personality so you can be assured that you’re speaking to people who know their stuff.

I’ve gone on alot about this little darkened space but, honestly, this isn’t all!

The Dior boutique is actually of an L-shaped and in a tiny corner there is a doorway to the otherside which, while still very Dior, is a whole different environment from the dark and neon set up of the Backstage Studio.

The opposite side of the boutique showcases Dior’s skincare products and also fragrances.

Unlike the whole hustle and bustle of the Backstage portion, this side isn’t as busy and feels quieter, even. You can get settled in a corner and have a fragrance consultation or slowly browse the display of scents available.

L'OCCITANE Festive Giveaway Winners & Angelica Skincare Workshop Round Up!

Instead of spamming you with bits of pieces of my recent eventful interactions with L’OCCITANE, I figured I would just lump it all into this one entry. So, here’s annoucing the winners of my recent L’OCCITANE Angelica Festive Giveaway along with some shots and thoughts of the Angelica Skincare Workshop I had conducted at TANGS Seviin!

In lieu of more L’OCCITANE Angelica giveaways to come (no solid promises but that is my plan!), the giveaway I had just wrapped up will be termed the ‘Festive Giveaway’!

First of all, thank you to all that have taken part and took time to jot your skin concerns down, sharing with me your skin woes. I’ve been through my fair share of skin problems along with good skin times and likewise I feel a skincare routine is crucial to both bettering and maintaining your skin.

With that, L’OCCITANE is bringing to light the fact that they have a good range of skincare products ready to help you tackle your skin concerns be it hydrating, oil control or combating redness.

While the brand isn’t famed for their skincare, it’s never too late to start discovering and learning about what they have to offer – trust me, their stuff is pretty good!

Angelica Festive Giveaway Winners

Enough said, I’m glad to be able to share some L’OCCITANE Angelica products with the 3 lucky winners below!

Congratulations to you lot and for everyone else that didn’t win, fret not! Like I said, I have plans for more giveaways coming up soon – after all, it is my duty as the Angelica Angel to spread the Angelica love!

The 3 winners have been notified via emails, please check your inbox (maybe even spam / junk mail) for further instructions! Should anyone fail to reply within 48 hours, another winner will be drawn.

The Angelica Angel Workshop

On the note of sharing, I was excited (and totally anxious) about the L’OCCITANE Angelica Angel Workshop though thankfully I think everything went relatively smooth! I did have my bouts of nerves and little hiccups with my presentation but I think overall I did pretty okay.

I can only hope that the participants present had a great time discovering the Angelica products and loved the whole experience of it!

Of course I also have to thank the L’OCCITANE Team for being such awesome people and handling every aspect of this workshop such that I needn’t have to worry about anything at all.

The workshop was held at a lovely and cozy room at SEVIIN at Tangs – the setting and deco was perfect and the little bites added a nice classy touch, I couldn’t be more glad about how my first ever beauty workshop went and I’m happy to share this experience with a bunch of jovial and enthusiastic team!

Oh hello Sophia (makeupblogette)!

Overall, it’s hard to sum the experience up but I can see why some would get addicted to holding such presentations, workshops and/or hosting. Not for the attention (unless that’s your thang) but rather the feeling of conveying information, helping people understand a product better and hopefully allowing them to have enjoyed the session yet learnt from it at the same time. It’s really quite priceless :)

With that said, this doesn’t mean I’ll be doing workshops anytime now because I need to keep my nerves and heart rate in check! I can’t deal with this presentation anxiety on a daily basis! Ha!

Thanks again everyone!

p.s. Putting a little pause button on my blog right now because work is a total killa but you’ll hear from me as soon as I can! As usual, loads to shout out and talk about but not enough time. No time, never enough time! Ha!

Baby's CNY Outfits! (Thanks to FOX Fashion)

This post would be the rare nod to my mommy side of life and also a more personal glimpse into our little family time, outside of my love for makeup and dolling up.

Over the recent weekend, we were invited to a preview of FOX Fashion (or simply FOX)’s upcoming Chinese New Year collection. In the western world, this would probably be better termed as Spring Summer given the floral prints, soft flowy materials and bright colors used.

Though in Singapore, with Chinese New Year sneaking up very quickly this year, it’s a great place to drop by and shop up a storm for the kids.

As adults, I know I personally can’t be too bothered with shopping for new clothes every New Year but when it comes to dressing kids up, it’s quite a fun affair. What’s more if you shop at FOX, it is inexpensive and stylish too!

My snaps are a little more biased towards baby and girls because I have a baby girl but they have items for boys and ‘big kids’ too!

I’ll also need your help towards the end, so stay tuned! :D

There were some bites on hand given the event was held in the early morning but it seems like everyone was too busy shopping to eat!

While I digested my surroundings, baby was attracted to the little kids corner with kid-sized tables and toys. Hubs also took the liberty to start warming baby up with some shades, heh!

Alright, on to the clothes.

Everything looked so girly, cute and small I had to resist trying everything on baby.

I think unlike me, baby probably isn’t too keen on multiple outfit changes. By the third outfit she was yawning and frowning so I’m glad she managed to tank on through the whole morning – phew!

The entire FOX store at City Square was decked out in their New Arrivals, be it casual tees to jeggings (super cute on babies) to shorts, pretty dresses, camis, and more!

Baby shoes are so adorable these days. Even though we know they will outgrow them pretty quick, it’s still hard to resist.

We picked out a couple of pretty dresses (since Baby has an abundance of casual wear and rompers already) and it was off to the changing room!

Baby was required to snap 2 outfits for the first 2 days of Chinese New Year. While she really is quite a tomboy-ish, curious and cheeky girl, I think we did quite a good job giving her a pretty dainty and girly appeal in her outfits, heh!

I was so glad that hubs (and his parents) were around to help too as I didn’t think I could manage with baby alone at the event!

See, the enthusiastic daddy making sure his girl looks her best!

Would you like to see Baby posing with the 2 Outfits?

Yes, hop on over to FOX Fashion’s album and while you’re at it, drop baby a LIKE if you like her outfits! It’s a super quick process and all you need is a Facebook account, which most already have! So, do drop her a vote if you can!

What’s in it for you?

You may just get to walk away with a Canon Selphy Photo Printer (worth S$199) for yourself, along with a FOX CNY outfit too!

That is if baby comes up as the winning kid!

Do help spread the word (use http://on.fb.me/votebabyk to share) as well, that would be greatly appreciated :)

While baby was required to pose for 2 outfits for the little contest, we decided on dressing her up for a spunky third outfit. Just for kicks. I think while the florals are really pretty this best suits my little girl’s cheeky personality!

In the meanwhile, do check out FOX Fashion if you still need to get some CNY Clothes shopping done for your kiddos!

Thanks for reading and thanks for voting~
