What Was On My Nails: All Da Reds! (NARS & Barry M)

Hello you guys!

While I’m quite glad this week is a short week, it’s starting out to be quite a whirlwind of items to rush out / finish up! Amidst all the furious taping and typing away at work, I noticed that it’s been awhile since my nails have been painted and it’s been an even longer while since I’ve featured some nail entries up on here.

These days, after I started on New Job apparently, I just haven’t been able to find the time to paint my nails. Even with all the quick dry technology in the nail-realm, apparently time is still tough. Ha.

That aside, I’ve also been keeping my nails chopped short due to a rather bad eczema flare-up that I had faced quite recently. It’s much better now (don’t wanna jinx it saying this) but due to paranoia I still prefer keeping my nails short in the meanwhile so in the scenario I can’t resist the urge to scratch – and that happens a lot when I sleep – at least it isn’t so damaging.

So short and nekkid nails it is these days and frankly, I don’t mind but just for the blog’s sake here’s a look at some red talons I donned before this nail polish abstinence phase I’m going through right now.

Barry M – Pomegranite

The first of the reds would be this lovely gift that Mabel (Sheshopsmakeup) had got us from one of her trips.

IMG_7175

I’ve not tried much from Barry M, muchless polishes, so this stunning red was definitely a very welcomed addition to the nail drawer.

I don’t have many red nail polishes but of the few that I do have, I think Barry M’s Pomegranite stands quite uniquely amongst them.

IMG_7177

While red and bright, it’s got this soft creamy pink tone to it in certain lightings that prevent it from being a straight-out chilli-red and that option is nice sometimes when you want to take a break from the classic and text-book sort of red.

IMG_7181

IMG_7186

IMG_7189

The formula of this is quite awesome as well, going on glossy and shiny without the need of a top-coat and lasting well through the many days I had it on. It’s definitely a color I’ll reach for again, and again, and again!

NARS – Dovima

Speaking of again, and again, and again, a red that I’ve donned for the longest period of time, continuously too might I add, would be NARS Dovima.

IMG_8246

If Barry M Pomegranite isn’t classic enough for you then NARS Dovima is probably just what you need. I will say however that classic reds are quite commonplace in the beauty industry because everyone loves a good, rich, chilli-red nail polish but finding a good one with a nice shine, easy application and smooth quality may not prove as easy.

IMG_8248

IMG_8251

Dovima ticks all the right boxes and of course looks all sleek and chic in the NARS packaging.

Unfortunately I was gifted this gorgeous red by Mag (Makeupstash) so I’m not sure which collection it is from and if it is -le gasp- Limited Edition but eitherways if it happens to be I hope it gets repromoted really soon.

Dovima Feat. 3CE’s VL06

Another example of how obsessed I was with Dovima at one point is that even while painting another color (3CE’s VL06 which is stunning too and gifted by Eliza – all gifts in this post, I feel so loved, heh!) on, I actually felt inclined to add a pop of Dovima to spice up the combo.

IMG_9630

IMG_9631

So yes, long story short, here’s a look at the nail combos that I had cycled through before I arrived at the current nail abstinence phase.

I do miss the look of painted nails so I’m itching to get a fresh coat on soon but I guess until then it’s nekked nails to let them breathe and air and do whatever else naked nails do, ha!

On another note of red, I noticed Ciate has this stunning red, very appropriately called Red Hot Chilli! Go give the Ciate nail products a look if you’re looking for some quaint and chic pops of color (or even neutrals!)

Thanks for reading!

Till next time, whenever that is! I promise I’ll have my Urban Decay Sheer Revolution Lipstick mention up really soon. I’ve been working on that since forever!

Happy Lunar New Year Y’All! Plus My Very Simple CNY Nails…

Well… I’ll admit that throwing in my nails here is my attempt at giving this entry a little more content than the usual “HEY GUYS, IT’S CNY~ HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!” shoutout entry.

I mean I could really just do that since I’m pressed for time anyway (noticed my rushed typing tone? No? Okay…) but yes, really though, a very very Happy Chinese / Lunar New Year to everyone who celebrates it and for those who don’t, this year’s holiday falls on a pretty good break so have fun, go abroad or just chill at home since most shops outside are closed anyway, heh!

It’s the year of the sheep this year and time to tell myself that I have moved past the 24 years old / 2nd cycle of my horoscope mark and am moving into my mid-twenties. Gasp!

I know it’s still a rather young age but the continually growing number is starting to scare me. Like… time really really flies. Wow.

For all you know I could be looking back at this post in 2030 and feel like it was only yesterday that I typed this up. Eeps.

So anyway, about my nails…

I had a grand scheme in mind to do some nail wraps, perhaps, or throw on a little fancy manicure with different colors and perhaps some intricate patterns by busting into that Sephora Nail Art Kit I’ve gotten from their holiday releases last year but alas, time was not on my side so here’s my incredibly plain (in comparison to all the bling most people have) nail combo going on right now.

I wanted to paint all one shade (that 3CE VL04 shade) – thank you for this beautiful shade Eliza! – but I randomly dug out this lovely NARS red, the color I had on just before this, and couldn’t resist popping it on again. Even if its just an accent nail.

At least in this way if anyone is going to ask where’s my red for Chinese New Year I can point to my nails, right? Heh!

Purple Divider

And that’s that!

Super quick entry, which still isn’t as quick as I would like.

I hope everyone has a blast this Chinese New Year be it feasting or catching up with old time relatives / friends! I feel Chinese New Year is quite a tiring celebration but it’s lively nonetheless so no matter how much beef I have with it, a tiny part of me still looks forward to it.

Wrapping it up, my space will take a little break over the 3 days of CNY but I’ll have more posts coming back at’cha once Sunday comes around and more next week, definitely!

It’s like my very last burst of posts I have planned before New Job so… yeah. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some up after those but we’ll see.. All I’m saying is, thereafter, no promises. Heh!

In the meanwhile, have you read about my Clear SK Cellulite Buster Treatment and V Face Shaper treatment from yesterday? I’ve got 20 sessions (per treatment) to giveaway so go check those entries out!

Thanks for reading again you guys! <3

Merry Christmas Everyone! Here, Have A Festive Manicure!

I wanted to do a On My Nails post and then a separate HOLLA It’s Christmas! entry but figured, nevermind… I always end up rambling way too much in my nail entries (for no reason, really) so combining the two topics could be a way to remind myself to ramble less.

Try to, at least.

So… yes, a VERY VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

I don’t have this manicure on anymore, sadly, but that also means that I am able to report that while gorgeous the glitter here (as with all glitter in polishes) was quite a pain to remove.

IMG_5394

IMG_5396

Sigh, why must pretty glitter be such a pain.

I know there’s that whole soaking method to remove glitter but sadly it doesn’t work for my hyper sensitive skin. The last time I tried that, my skin felt like it was burning and got all red from irritation – not fun.

That’s probably why, despite how a glitter polish can lend such a lovely touch to a manicure, I avoid them like plaque because it’s just too much trouble to remove.

Though before I get to the glitter, let me show you how that rich red – Boss Lady, hurhur, cute name – looks on its own first.

IMG_5402

IMG_5404

IMG_5406

IMG_5407

I know I said I wasn’t going to ramble but given that this brand is new (to me and I assume to a good few of you lot), let me just talk about it a little.

I’ll keep it as brief as I can with some key details but if anyone is interested in finding out more about the brand I would most certainly do an overview / round up to come, once I get around to swatching up all the shades I had received.

I was provided with a nice selection of shades which I hope to get around to swatching and featuring but for now here’s the two pictured earlier.

IMG_5424

IMG_5423

I think overall I am quite pleased with the brand. I can’t say I love their polishes because there is a catch to them but the colors are nice and rich, opaque in one coat and the brush is functional.

IMG_5417

It’s almost perfect except for the fact that it takes forever to dry. Like, forever.

I think we’ve all been spoilt with the glossy and quick-dry polishes of late that this is a little reminiscent of polishes before the gel era. Should I have discovered this brand about 3-4 years ago I think it would sit well with the bulk of nail polishes of that time.

IMG_5429

Though these days with gel effect polishes that give you beautiful shine, a flawless finish along with an incredibly quick dry time so you can get back to your chores asap, this one just feels a tiny bit lacking.

That, and the fact that this polish doesn’t last a very long time which was why I didn’t manage to wear it till the Christmas period. About a week into wear it start chipping very obviously at the tips and I had no choice but to remove it and move on.

IMG_5436

It’s these little itty bitty bits that is turning me off from swatching the rest of the shades but in its own fairness the color selections are rather pretty.

I have a gorgeous deep teal that I’m curious to try. Perhaps this time I’ll pair it with that Sephora quick dry oil that I have and hopefully that will make the process of enjoying these polishes a little better.

IMG_5421

I’ll report back again! Though in the meanwhile if you’re curious to find out more from Madam Glam for yourself, you can hop by their website and give it a look!

p.s. they’re having a 40% now if you’re willing to take a chance and haul first, decide later.

Alrightey, I’m sorry for this entry becoming such a ramble even though I tried not to.

I didn’t want to just upload a Christmas greeting alone so hopefully pairing it with a manicure made it a little more worth your time to read through.

I hope that everyone is having a blast this Christmas be it if you celebrate it religiously or just enjoy the commercial aspect of it, the get-togethers and the gift exchanges.

Regardless which angle of Christmas you enjoy, as long as it’s spent sharing laughs with people you love, it’s a joyous celebration no less.

Merry Christmas everyone! <3

I’ll see you guys again once the Christmas festivities is over!

On My Nails: Just Peachy (The Body Shop Color Crush™ Nails)

Hello!

So it’s back to the nail entries though I’ve been (fairly) religiously painting my talons and keeping them nice and colored, I’ve been slacking a little on telling you what I have on them.

Perhaps slacking isn’t the right word, it’s more of being distracted by the many other things to say but before these get lost in the sea of pending entries, let’s have a look again at The Body Shop’s Color Crush™ Nail Polishes that I have on hand, shall we?

So… the decision to paint this orange hued shade was because I was about to remove my nail colors and snip my nails down but figured… since they’re at this length already why not swatch another shade first before removing it all.

The reason why I’m not so hyped about keeping this shade on (or was not, at least) is because of my aversion to wearing orange on the nails. Or in this case, vermillion.

Or also called ‘Just Peachy‘, though I’ll say it leans more red-orange than peach but whatever floats your Color Crush boat.

Don’t mind the messy painting, remember my plan was slap on, snap and then remove. Heh!

IMG_4028

And I only have one thing to say after swatching this…

You know how in situations where you assume something for the whole batch due to the first little bugger you test yet that assumption turns out wrong because the first test subject is actually a bit of a dud?

Yeah, well, that’s what happened here because I don’t know if this is the same range from The Body Shop but Just Peachy swatched… well, just peachy! It was nice and opaque, shiny and creamy and I could even skip a topcoat with this brilliant bright orange.

Did I just put brilliant and orange together while describing a nail color?

Yes I think I did.

IMG_4026

IMG_4037IMG_4039

I usually can’t deal with oranges, hence the initial thought, but Just Peachy actually looks nice on and doesn’t do that odd orange polish thing of making my skin appear yellow and sickly.

IMG_4032

Long story short, call me impressed!

Now I can’t wait to go on and swatch the rest of the shades, which really are just 2 more shades – one a pastel purple (totally my color~) and the other is a staple black.

Would you believe I don’t have a black in my stash? At least I don’t have one that isn’t gloopy or dried up so… yes, I’ll save that ramble for another entry.

On My Nails: Meet Me At Dusk (The Body Shop Color Crush™ Nails)

OHAI… Sorry to have been neglecting you again, nail entries.

Funny thing is now that I’ve been painting my nails and keeping them painted once more, I have all these pictures of nail posts to do but no intention of doing them. Oops!

But okay, I’ll get right to it.

Nail entries are super quick anyway, right?

In today’s post, I have featured a color from The Body Shop’s new line up of nail polishes – the Color Crush™ Nails.

I was sent a small bag of them with a couple of shades to choose from but I felt in the mood for some nudes so I popped Meet Me at Dusk on.

p.s. I’ve noticed these polishes have alternate names in french and this one is also called Rose Rendez Vous

Meet Me At Dusk… Nude shade… Cheeky~

So anyway, here’s the shade done in 2 coats and snapped when semi-wet / drying.

IMG_3408

IMG_3409

IMG_3412

The Body Shop was also kind enough to include a top-coat (which supposedly works as a base coat too, interesting) which I think was a really good call because these Color Crush™ shades really pop and look much better once you have a glossy shine over them.

IMG_3414

IMG_3416

On their own, they seem to be a little dull, not as plush and lack a little something but the topcoat really brings this to its full potential.

IMG_3417

IMG_3419

IMG_3427

I don’t suppose you have to use a The Body Shop topcoat but if you’re a sucker for everything being matchy, then why not right? They’re only S$12.90 a pop!

IMG_3429

IMG_3430

So that’s that for my first introduction to The Body Shop’s Color Crush Nail Polishes, starting with a very simple and safe nude shade. I’ve got a couple of other shades on hand ranging from purples, to bright vermillion (as they call it) and black so… those will be up real soon!

As soon as I can paint them that is, which I don’t assume is too long given how frequently I’m changing up my polish shades right now.

On My Nails: CLIO Professional Neon Stylers in Bring It On!

It’s unbelievable how much work I have right now, from various sources (I have work-work, and then freelance stuff and not forgetting being a personal assistant to a chatty toddler), and on top of that it is even more unbelievable how amidst all that I still managed to squeeze out a little bit of time to paint my nails with all these matters on hand.

But what’s a girl to do?

When you have to perk yourself up to be ready to kick some work-ass (work, I mean, I’m not kicking anyone…), you’ve just got to do it because you wouldn’t believe how much that does for your state of mind.

A fresh coat of lacquer alone can make you feel all ready to take on the world. Women, we are so funny that way.

So, speaking of perking yourself up there’s nothing perkier to don than neons and I happened to have these CLIO Professional Neon Stylers on hand that I was curious about so I grabbed the green and slapped that on!

I didn’t know what to expect with these (I donned a base coat in the event of staining – which it didn’t seem to, thankfully) but they actually surpassed what little to no expectations I had of it.

Alas, nothing is perfect in this world so even though this color was intensely opaque in one coat, glossy and creamy enough to make me skip a top coat and dried relatively quick, the brush on the other hand… I have something to say about.

It isn’t a bad brush but it’s far from good too.

I think CLIO was on the right track with it but perhaps the material used for the brush bristles weren’t the most ideal because they felt quite prone to splaying should you be careless with dipping the brush back in the bottle. The bristles weren’t very densely packed too, a little fluffy almost, which made it quite scary to use for a polish brush – don’t want to get polish on the sides of your fingers!

But somehow, if you’re careful enough about application and also re-dipping, it works out to be okay. I just noted that the bristle quality was a little lacking and felt I should report on that but application itself was perfectly fine for me.

So after that very wordy description about this polish, did I also mention that this is a UV polish?

In the spirit of partying, booze, UV lights and smokey clubs (okay maybe not in that spirit but the term UV lights brings that to mind), CLIO had released a collection for you club-goers to find a way to stand out – very literally because these UV things glow like a scary hovering blob – amidst the dim situation of clubs.

This polish, Bring It On, happens to be 1 of 6 nail polishes launched in that collection and while I’m not going to a club anytime soon I thought I would just try and show you the UV aspect via the cool UV torch that CLIO had attached within the press kit.

It’s quite hard to gather what to look for from that image alone (as opposed to a club setting) but let me explain what you are looking at. Typically most shades will fall into the shadows, e.g. my darkened fingers, but the polish seems to have a UV base that gives it that stark white look.

If you are a club go-er I think this polish is going to be quite a lovely one to have given how it truly shines in a UV lighting environment. What’s more your friends will always, more or less, know where you are just by searching for hovering nails in the dark, ha!

The UV factor aside, I was also surprised to discover that these polishes carried a scent to them. It’s a soft and powdery fragrance which seems to bring Baby Powder to mind. It isn’t excessive but nice enough and it lingers on for about 4 days or so. It gently wafts by everytime I bring my hands to my face to adjust my hair, do my makeup etc and it’s just a nice touch.

Very lovely and the scent alone is reason enough to check this out!

Grey Divider

While we’re on the topic of bright and neon nails, I know it’s not quite the season for it right now given Fall is swinging in fast and furious but rule benders will be glad to know that these aside, Ciate has some neon nail offerings too!

For all y’all fashionistas who want to amp your outfit up with statement and bold nails.

I chanced upon this hawttt pink Ciate nail polish in their Neon Nail set (in super cute bottles) at Zalora should you want them!

Also, I’ve got a discount code for my readers – ZASARA15 – so plop that in for 15% off your order!

Alrightey so, this is a long ramble for a nail entry, pardon me I believe I got quite carried away! Neon nails isn’t a look you would wear all year round but it’s so seasonal and fresh to don one every now and then that it’s just perfect to have them in your stash, for whenever.

Thanks for reading!

Tell me, do you like to wear neon colors on your nails?

Oh No… Spikes, Spikes Errrwhere~

I could be the minority in this situation but… I don’t know about you though I felt a sense of dread, a sigh and also a little bit of an eyeroll that I managed to hold back when I caught wind about the upcoming Christian Louboutin Nail Polish collection.

Sure, there was the signature red polish that they have already launched (right am I?) in the USA that a good number of beauty bloggers had spoken about.

It’s this one here, in case you’ve missed it.

Yes it’s a bit excessive but it’s very Louboutin in a way. That red, the spikes, the over-the-top-ness and edginess, so all that I can forgive.

But now, there are talks that Christian Louboutin would be launching a 30 piece nail polish collection featuring a whole range of colors from poppy and cheery brights to moody and sultry dark colors, which frankly do look like a nice mix of shades.

Okay fine, I’ll admit, those cream shades look absolutely delicious…

Though I have one problem with this range of polishes, and that would be that spike.

I know many love it for being so edgy but I feel it is extremely excessive, and not to mention, incredibly difficult to store!

So while I haven’t actually gotten my hands on these to try, I can’t help but feel like this is yet another fashion label looking to bang on the cosmetic buck but then again… there’s no such thing as too much polish in the world, right?

While I can’t say I’m 100% on board with the Louboutin polish phase, I am intrigued, and curious but I sure as hell hope that somehow Louboutin would tweak the design of his bottles and make that ginormous spike removable ala the usual nail polish caps because carrying these bottles around otherwise could prove quite murderous!

Though knowing Christian Louboutin (the man who said that he dislikes the idea of comfort for shoes), I doubt we will see practicality and ease being incorporated into a design. It’s all about being high, high fashion.

So, tell me, what do you think about this Louboutin polish range? Any thoughts on the Louboutin polishes so far?

Thanks for reading!

On My Nails: MAC’s Sunset Sky (Hola, I’m Back~)

Hello there!

Whoa, it feels as if I had just crawled out from under a huge rock, a huge rock called work and life madness that is! I can’t say that things are all good and sorted because after one turmoil comes another but lets just say the bulk of the chaos, hustlin’ about and days of hardly any sleep at all are likely to be over for now.

It’s a different sort of busy-ness on hand but one that I can deal with enough to at least pop by and say a quick hi!

I’m still getting my brain back on track and getting myself oriented with beauty news, beauty loots that have come my way thus far and whatnot. I’m sorting out mentions so I can kick this space alive again but in the meanwhile… when in doubt, post a nail entry!

Though another reason I want to put up this mention as quick as I can is also because this should be available right naooo. Now!

I don’t know the take up of MAC Cosmetic’s Limited Edition product as of now (I need to be in touch with my inner MAC a little more these days) but if it’s anything like before, you better hurry down to a counter if you like what you see!

This nail polish – Sunset Sky – is a piece from the overly cheesy MAC’s A Novel Romance collection and I will admit that the promo visuals have me at a big NO. Though give the products a chance because there are a lot of gems within this collection, this being one of it!

Sunset Sky, this little reddish number, is one of the 6 polishes released with MAC’s A Novel Romance collection. All of which have a slightly cheery colorful yet smokey appearance.

In the photos above, this polish photographs a little lighter but I wouldn’t say this color is that dark either. The press visuals seem to picture this on the edge of vampy but it depends – under varying lighting conditions it actually appears a little lighter and more maroon/brown than purple/black compared to typical vampy tones.

Perhaps this picture below is a more true-to-life example:

I haven’t used MAC’s nail polish in such a long time (the last time being just before I delivered my baby girl, hurhur) that I wasn’t sure what to expect with regards to the formula but it’s safe to say that I was pleasantly surprised.

The formula was nicely opaque, creamy and easy to apply with one quick coat. The brush was great as well and helped the application along. It isn’t the most unique or special of brushes but it worked just fine.

While 1 coat is really all you need, I applied 2 just for the sake of it and also because I wanted to try and see if I could get that gorgeous pink sheen you see in the bottle on my nails.

Though sadly the verdict to that is, no.

I believe that is my only gripe with this nail polish because otherwise, it is pure perfection. The color is beautiful, the application was a breeze and if anything you can even skip a topcoat if you’re not particular. It isn’t high-shine but it doesn’t dry down that flat and muted either so it’s good enough.

I personally love shine so I went ahead with a top coat anyway but what you see pictured here is without the topcoat.

I think we’ve come quite far as far as MAC Nail Polishes are concerned and it could very well be a hit and miss situation but Sunset Sky is a true hit with me! I highly urge you to check this color out because it is a perfect transition to Fall nails if going straight out vampy is too much for you.

If red is too loud, vampy is too sultry and browns are too boring then this is a perfect combination that is lightweight enough for day, perky enough for color and yet deep enough to be chic.

On the note of A Novel Romance, here’s is another beauty that I have on hand and am trying / loving. I didn’t even wait to shoot it first before using it because it’s that lovely. I’ll talk about it as soon as I can but in the meanwhile I have a luggage to pack and lots of cupboards to tape up. Tataaa for now!

Have you got your hands on one already? Have you tried MAC Nail Polishes before?

MAC’s Sunset Sky retails for S$24 (if I’m not wrong) and is Limited Edition.

On My Nails: piCture pOlish’s Blue Dog + A Whole Lotta Rambles!

Who knew that you’d find dogs at sea!

Pardon the randomness of that sentence and here, let me explain…

According to piCture pOlish, their nail color Blue Dog (which is a lacuqer in collaboration with Vampy Varnish) is termed to be the wolf pack of the sea.

Now, I don’t really know what that means but what I do know is that this is one gorgeous, gorgeous color.

On that note, if someone can explain to me the definition of a wolf pack of the sea that would be awesome. I am still trying to comprehend the association and also relevance of Blue Dog to that… Do they mean dog as in wolves and then blue being the sea? Cause that’s a lot of cheese going on in some small sentence.

So about the color, as gorgeous as it is this is one annoying bugger to photograph. It also happens to be one of those polishes that  look better in the bottle because it’s just that much more shimmery, sparkly and pretty.

Once on the nails, the shimmers do seem a little flatter and more microscopic given that we wouldn’t be holding our hands up to our faces most of the time but when you are going about doing your thing and an itty bitty piece of teal-blue shimmer catches the light and sparkles at you, it is quite a lovely sight.

For the most part, this polish applies well and is nicely opaque in 2 coats (1 will give you a translucent grey-ish base with shimmers suspended within). The brush that comes with is easy to work with and the polish seems to be lasting quite well on my hands even though they are about a week old now.

As for the color, it is a little hard to describe being a little blue and a little grey at the same time. If anything, it is almost like a greyish deep blue? In these shots it does appear a little light but in person, depending on lighting conditions, it looks a little darker.

Though regardless it is a lovely color to don and it is easy to match any outfit or situation. The shimmer bits are really fine too, so they don’t hinder the removal process and come off quite easily.

So, okay, the point of putting up a nail entry is so I don’t type a whole load of words so I think I’ll stop here.

Purple Divider

Of Suits Season 3, Battery Chargers & Mad Work Week…

Remember when I kept complaining about the word block issue that I was facing. About how I really wanted to write and mention about a zillion and one things but somehow when I actually got down to it no words would reach me and I’m left hanging, trying to paint a portrait of my mind with absolutely nothing?

Okay, I exaggerate but that does sum up the situation very well from my perspective.

Thankfully, that seems to have passed… a little. I still feel a little stumped for inspiration and when it comes to writing a certain type of entry but I think it’s not too bad now, words seem to be coming back to me…

I do attribute a little of this brain revival to the recent Suits marathon I had undergone.

https://i0.wp.com/wrestling-network.net/public/images/2013/07/suits-season3-featured-wn-17072013.jpg

I had spoken out Suits, way back along with Outsourced, and since then it’s been awhile since I had gotten my Suits fix and boy was it good to marathon whatever was left of Season 2 along with Season 3.

Though now I am a whole pile of anxiety because all of the western dramas I have been catching are in the works and I have nothing to see – Egads! No Walking Dead, no Orphan Black, no Orange is the New Black… I think I’ll have to get back to where I left off on Penny Dreadful.

That or Running Man…

In other news, I’ve finally gotten my hands on the XiaoMi battery pack!

I finally have juice on the go! Though frankly my iPhone 5S’s battery is still quite alright but there are some days I have to be out the whole time without any access to a USB or powerpoint and during those days, I die.

Or rather, my phone dies.

So I’ve been on the lookout for a powerbank for awhile and all my friends (along with reviews online and basically the whole world – almost) recommends this or sings praises about it. Given it is fairly inexpensive, okay… I mean dirt cheap, I had to pick it up to give it a go.

At the price of of S$13.99 for a 10,400 mAh charger, what’s more is there to consider!

I’ll be honest and admit that I haven’t used this fella yet, though I have been good and charged it up proper but given the madness at work to come – next week is a full out events week at work so, a lot of running around and moving things around, screaming at people… all in a days work – I think I’ll be able to properly put this to the test and hope it keeps me well-juiced up for the whole day of being in contact with people and running around!

So if you are looking about for a new juice pack, go give Xiaomi a look. Typically they restock every Tuesday at 12pm but it’s best to just check their Facebook page for more information.

So with that said, this entry has gone on long enough and I’ve also wrapped up another point about this week being mad so, I’ll see you when I see you alright but don’t expect much to come for this period and perhaps a little after while we unpack and get the whole post-event kinks ironed out.

I can’t wait to get this period over and done with! I swear every year I dread yet love (cause it’s quite fulfilling an event, really) this 1 week of September…

Are you a Suits fanatic?

Are you a XiaoMi User? Frankly their phones are not too bad (hubs has one)!

Picture This, A piCture pOlish Haul!

I really shouldn’t be doing this, and by this I mean hauling more polishes given how infrequently I paint my nails these days.

I still love having prettily varnished talons (who doesn’t, right?) but time is an obstacle and no amount of fast dry polish can help me when I need to tend to baby, stat.

That aside, another reason for the lack of nail mentions these days is because of the horrid eczema I had been plagued with.

Thankfully now things are way better (after 2 visits to the skin centre and medication stock ups), but there is still the occasional stubborn rash that pops up on some fingers – acetone is a huge B when you have open wounds on fingers – or unruly cuticles that I think shouldn’t be seen by the world.

But anyway, back to hauling these.

What can I say? When a girl’s gotta haul, a girl’s gotta haul.

My picks, after some deliberating and browsing on PP’s Instagram account would be Vampire and Blue Dog while Attitude is a gift from Eliza (thank you love!)

I was drawn to Vampire because of how perfect a blood-red it is. This is true blood right here, yo!

I know it sounds bizarre and maybe even a bit morbid (blood on your nails?!) but it is quite a lovely look and in some cases especially chic because it is so dark it is almost black / maroon but yet under light there is that jelly redness to it.

Forgot words, I slapped it on pronto so a nail entry is coming up!

Blue Dog captivated me with it’s multi-shimmers and intriguing cool dusty-blue base.

I am normally not a fan of shimmery bits within polishes because they can be a pain to remove but this was too gorgeous plus the bits seemed fine and small enough to not cause too much problems during removal.

Lastly, Attitude!

I wasn’t even aware of this shade but I’m so glad Eliza picked it out for me because this right here is a true reflection of some perfect cosmic galaxy!

Maybe the true world out there is a little darker, a little more blue but I love me some purples and the jewelled tones, darkened edges and shimmer / shine are absolutely stunning. I cannot wait to paint this on as well!

So that concludes my little hiatus from nail polish hauling, which frankly I was very good at. That hiatus I mean, not the hauling part.

Because a sensible part of me knew that in most instances if I majorly hauled polishes, they wouldn’t be getting much use so yes. It makes more sense to pick up a lip product on a whim than a beloved polish but in this scenario, it’s piCture pOlish man, how could I pass it up?

Thanks for reading!
