Introducing Aeon Medical & Aesthetics Centre

So… whenever aesthetic clinics come to mind, people usually think – sterile, clean, efficient and, well, effective.

Typically the words, pampering, comfortable, and thoughtful (in terms of service and amenities, I mean) aren’t things that would go hand in hand with the initial impression of aesthetic clinics.

While I’m not quite one to say, given I have limited experience with aesthetic clinics and hardly any (truly) aesthetic procedures done, I will say that I have experienced clinics that aspire to be more aesthetic focused hence the vibe of the place is centered around the efficiency of their state-of-the-art equipment and clean surroundings as opposed to the soft, plush comfort and service you’ll get at your regular spa / beauty salon.

Why am I bringing this up? You may ask.

Well, since my introduction to Aeon Medical and Aesthetics Centre, I have popped by their place twice and in those 2 short experiences that I had with their staff and also the doctor (Dr Michael Kim), I will say that it has largely changed my mindset about aesthetic clinics.

IMG_6655

Sure Aeon is efficient and very much still an aesthetic clinic with lasers, needles and all sorts of aesthetic procedures (they do Medical Facials too, btw) but somehow the vibe of the place is attentive and largely service oriented so that you feel comfortable and welcomed at all times.

I am always warmly greeted when I step into Aeon and the facilities offered in the Centre are thoughtful and cozy (classy too!).

Now, I don’t mean for this entry to get too loaded with words but I feel that some points need to be highlighted and explained because, contrary to what we mostly know of aesthetic clinics, Aeon really stands out with their hospitality, patient staff and of course effective treatments.

As of writing up this post, I haven’t tried the treatments for myself (yet) but am scheduled for some, to better my skin and self, so I’ll share about them once I’ve gone through with it.

I can’t wait, really!

I know it’s almost funny to say that you can’t wait to get procedures, aesthetic or medical, done because it can be daunting and, truth be told, scary but trust me that at Aeon you will be well taken care of and pampered – in true Korean aesthetic clinic style, according to Dr Michael Kim.

It’s quite hard to really capture the feel of the place in pictures so I tried to do up a little video, that hopefully is fun for you to watch as well. After all, I have to make up for this wall of text, right? Ha!

The video is right at the end but I suggest you read more walls of text first! So you’ll know what I’m actually doing within the video and what I would like to showcase!

The Visits And Discussions Thus Far!

To give you an idea of what I had gone through thus far.

My first visit was really a get-to-know-me and consultation session where we discussed what my skin concerns were, what I wanted to do or fix, that sort of a thing. I think generally a lot of my concerns were more prevention than fixing a ‘problem’.

I think ultimately there are little bits and pieces I would like to be perfected (don’t we all?) but for the most part I am comfortable in my skin and confident of my own appearance. Plus, if I whined too much about my skin concerns I know some of you guys out there would kill me for it, heh!

So, the second visit was a skin check and I had to be present with zilch makeup so the doctor will be able to properly analyze my skin using the Visia machine.

IMG_6666

I’ve actually tried a skin analysis with a similar machine a couple of years ago. That was the wakeup call to start slathering on sun block and take better care of my skin so needless to say I was nervous about seeing my skin this closeup and on so many different levels once more.

Nervous but yet also curious.

Now I’m not going to divulge too much about the happenings because this trip was the one that I video-ed a little about, just to really show you how comfortable and nice the clinic is. There is also a separate room for an even quieter and chill alone time but that isn’t pictured because it’s mainly for patients to rest after a treatment or to wait while letting their numbing cream take effect so I didn’t want to go there and disrupt anyone if they were there.

That room will have to wait for another post!

Hotel-esque Powder Rooms and Lounging Areas!

But anyway, I guess I’ll highlight a couple more things that I genuinely liked and feel comforted about Aeon Medical & Aesthetic Centre upon speaking to Dr Michael Kim and being there myself.

Firstly, I love how luxurious and well equipped their powder room is. It’s where you are brought to wash your face prior to your treatment (if you’re doing a facial they will cleanse your face too, no worries) should you want to and it’s got super cute headbands and hair ties for you to choose from! All just to help prop your hair up while you wash your face, too cute.

What’s more they provide combs (that were really clean, I must add) and even hairspray for anyone to fix their hair with after a facial or aesthetic treatment. The whole room feels like a toilet walkway in the hotel, so luxe and so pretty.

The ‘general’ waiting room is also a favorite of mine because of how chill and bright the whole place is, almost as if it were a hotel lobby. There are drinks by the side you can help yourself with or have the kind staff prepare for you. The whole chill and comfortable vibe of the place really takes your nerves off any procedure that you’re looking to do.

Dr Michael Kim had explained that with this clinic, what he had aimed to do is to properly bring over the Korean culture of clinics. Not just the treatments and the efficacy of it but also the service and the vibe because in korea, service in clinics is a huge thing! I agreed that local aesthetic clinics aren’t quite the same as Dr Kim’s description of Korean clinics. The treatments itself is the star attraction and focus isn’t placed as much on service since the idea is if you’re visiting a doctor, you can’t expect to be treated like royalty, right?

In a way there’s nothing wrong with that general aesthetic centre mentality but I guess Aeon Medical & Aesthetic Centre is bridging the gap between clinical efficiency and also indulgent pampering.

If you, or anyone you know, are/is looking for a place to consult for aesthetic procedures or for skin bettering options, I do highly Aeon Medical & Aesthetic Centre.

Objective (and Comfortable!) Consultations

IMG_6689

I know this is getting lengthy but I do want to mention a final point – unlike other places where consultation can feel a little daunting either because the doctors are looking to sell you treatments or not properly listen to your concerns before recommending a treatment, I will say that is completely not the case here.

Dr Michael Kim listens extremely attentively about all your concerns and objectively consults with you about how much of a concern an issue is and to what measure should treatments be done.

IMG_6707

Such that you don’t have to go through with too invasive a procedure when the result could be achieved through a milder way, or if a certain treatment would leave little to no effect on you (psst, I had no idea that people with chubbier cheeks should actually not go through with Botox because it’s not as effective, no aesthetic doctor would tell you that!).

Truthfully Dr Michael Kim will discuss all matters with you objectively and his presence and tone is calm and comfortable to be around too so trust me, it will be a completely changed aesthetic experience from what you know or have experienced before.

The Nitty Gritty Stuff…

If you need anymore reassurance about Dr Michael Kim, a little backstory about him was that he started as a Family Physician when he first arrived to practice medicine in Singapore.

It is required, by law, that all foreign doctors are registered and licensed before they are allowed to practice privately and own a clinic and Dr Michael Kim is fully registered and also a member of the Singapore Medical Association and Society of Aesthetic Medicine of Singapore.

He had also explained that his time as a family physician has also allowed him to treat other common illnesses and further understand how the body works which helps give him a more holistic idea about aesthetics. While not completely related, a good doctor is one that understands the whole aspect of the picture and sees the whole being, rather than skin being skin and hair being hair separately.

Purple Divider

If you’ve always been too afraid to step into an aesthetic clinic but yet so curious about it at the same time, I really recommend Aeon Medical & Aesthetic Clinic.

In this day and age where almost everyone is getting some aesthetic treatments done to better their skin (be it IPL, Laser or others), it’s really not so much a taboo anymore to consult and understand your skin a little better.

IMG_6730

I think being informed about how you can better yourself (with the right person, definitely) is good to know and whether you want to carry through with it is a choice you can then make after.

There’s no harm in knowing, right? ;)

Okay, enough talk, here’s the video! Enjoy! :) – Watch it on Youtube here.

My Pampers Journey #2 – Loving Baby for A Lovable Baby

They say that kids are a reflection of their parents, or to put more specifically the reflection of adults they interact most with while growing up.

It shows most evidently with the things they do, or rather the things they follow us do.

p.s. We don’t actually let her ‘use’ the computer, only this one time when she requested to go “UP” and instinctively put her hand on the mouse, like we would.

Aside from copying the way we do / say things, they also pick up on emotional and characteristic behaviour.

If you treat them harshly, chances are they will inevitably pick up habits and who knows, they may display such characteristics as they grow up.

If you ask me, taking care of and nurturing a child is such a huge duty to be entrusted to. There are hardly any off days, certainly no way to quit the job and ultimately however you choose to carry your job out will come back and haunt you (given if you don’t ‘do it well’).

Certainly there are other influencing factors as kids grow but the love, foundation and support they first receive from their parents are key stepping stones to developing their values and also characteristics as they grow.

At least that is what I believe!

There is no right or wrong way to teaching a child… okay yes, there are wrong-wrong ways but no truly right way to do it no matter how many books you have read on this matter and no matter how many workshops you attend.

Though the one thing that I believe in when nurturing a little being is, showering them with love and affection in all your sincerity and no matter how hard times will be, no matter what influences cross their path as their grow, they would turn out alright :)

Babies / toddlers, especially, love to follow in the footsteps of their parents since you are their world and all they know. Every little action and thought that you do to them is actually, and surprisingly, noticed even though you may think that these little beings can’t even tell left from right.

Truth is even though they may not know their ABCs, nor do they know how to count to 100 but they do know how to love with all their little hearts, as much as you love them and perhaps maybe even more.

They will even follow in your footsteps of affection and convey that same affection towards their toys, pets, etc! It’s really quite heartwarming to see them embrace their dolls and dogs so endearingly.

Baby K loves pets! Dogs, cats, anything furry and cuddle regardless if they are tiny chihuahuas or huge golden retrievers!

So anyway, back to this…

There are many ways to express your love and concern with your little one that rightfully you don’t need a list or an article to teach you how. Though there are some tips and tricks online if you’re running out of creative ways of expressing your love.

But as always with my take on things, I will share how we deal with affection the Baby K way… which again, as you would have known isn’t very conventional because she is such a unique little individual.

Cuddling

Most websites recommend it, all moms swear by it but guess what… Baby K doesn’t like it.

The only time cuddling works is when she is extremely tired on the verge of sleep or extremely groggy from just having woken up. Every other time, this little girl is a rocket that refuses to sit still and anything that restrains her from wiggling about (e.g. cuddling) is a no-no in her books.

She sqeauls, she squirms and sometimes she screams / complains (baby babble) after we playfully force-cuddle her.

While hubs still likes to annoy / disturb her a little by deliberately squeezing her (hence she gets worried whenever hubs attempts to hug her), I have learnt the trick to stealing quick cuddles from my little girl.

It’s a 2 second rule – swoop, hug, go. It’s that swift.

Any longer and you get the baby squealing / struggling and ultimately screaming for freedom.

Little Kisses

Granted most of the time we forcefully plant kisses on baby’s chubby little cheeks, even though she adamently says ‘No’ in her cute baby voice when we ask, “Can papa/mommy kiss you?

play the video below!

But apparently that aside, this little girl has picked up on the affectionate action of giving kisses (even though she declines it). But only when she is in the mood for it.

There have been times where we would bug and beg for her smooches and all she’ll do is smile cheekily and turn away.

Other times, when we least expect it, she’ll plant sloopy wet baby kisses on us. Maybe once, maybe twice, maybe more! I’ve woken up to a ‘barrage’ of wet smooches all over my face because for some reason baby felt like it.

Playing With Baby

Needless to say, playing with your baby is very very important. Especially so in this day and age where parents easily hand over an iPad or tablet with videos or games to occupy their kids, having the kiddos bond with an electronic game more than the parents themselves.

We are quite strict about exposing baby to videos, television, hand-held devices and such because we don’t want to make it a habit for her and us both. Especially with the number of kids being easily exposed to all these things at a young age and subsequently damaging their eyes over it, along with the negative connotations (ADHD, short attention span etc) related to over-exposure of screen-time.

Though it is not to say that we don’t allow it entirely, but rather everything in moderation and as little as we possibly have to. After all, it is that much more rewarding to play the good ole way with toys, playgrounds, your imagination and more!

I’ll talk about play time in more detail to come because I have so much more to share with regards to this, given that Baby K is one little dynamite that can’t keep still!

Reading To Baby

Reading may start off to be a pretty tedious or de-moralizing process, because when babies are babies how interested would they be with books, right?

I am fortunate enough to have a mother-in-law who understands the importance about introducing Baby K to books, and is as passionate (if not more) about getting her to love books. Hence, since an early age, my MIL has been reading all sorts of books to her be it those about shapes, animals, color etc!

My MIL would even go the mile and be descriptive and animated with describing each and every aspect / visual in the story, making it an overall enjoyable, fun and also interactive experience for baby.

Due to her early exposure to books, baby actually loves books – both the idea of these colorful hardboard things and also the aspect of Story Time.

In fact, ‘BOOK’ was one of the first few words she started to mutter. Along with egg, no, please, there and more. Ha, her priorities in life!

Well, we haven’t reached the stage where she will sit by you obediently through an entire book but… we’re getting there, eventually!

As mentioned, she loves the idea of books so much that at times she ransacks our bookshelf and walks about the house with a novel, cookbook or jewelry book in hand. It’s so adorably hilarious.

Yes baby dear, I am sure you comprehend the Da Vinci Code as well as your Mother Goose Rhymes.

Giving Baby the Best

Of course, the best isn’t always associated to getting the most expensive item out there in the market. If you can afford it that is awesome but if you can’t, it doesn’t matter either because being sincere about your options and choices for baby in the best of your means it is something you have carefully thought out, weighed the pros and cons of and decided that this would best fit baby given what you are able to give.

It doesn’t mean you have to deck baby out in designer wear when something from a decent enough kidswear shop is more cooling and comfortable to wear.

The most high-end of shoes may not be as comfortable a fit or as easy to walk in as perhaps some decently known brand with good comfort and support.

Ultimately giving the best is something most parents want to do but sometimes they are not informed enough to make a choice so here I am sharing with you why you should choose Pampers Baby Dry and why I choose to give baby the best with all-round comfort and dryness no matter sleep or play.

Love Pampers Baby Dry, Because it Loves Your Baby too

How does Pampers help to love your baby?

Well I’ll be listing down some small yet significant factors on how I think Pampers Baby Dry has helped baby and I along be it through the ease of use or comfort of wear!

Soft, Thin and Comfortable

The first thing I noticed upon setting eyes on Pampers Baby Dry is how soft the material was and how ‘thin’ / slim the pampers are.

Though don’t let this fool you because this soft and comfortable material is mighty heavy duty too and even with Hub’s strength (which has sometimes torn diaper tabs out, oops), these have been surviving just fine without any strength-mishaps.

A Good Fit

I’ve also found that the Pampers Baby Dry’s shape is a little leaner and longer, which I personal prefer for Baby K’s physique. She’s on the smaller built of things but a little taller than her age hence these diapers fit her perfectly, covering her tummy and back well without leaving too much room around the thighs.

Slim, Sleek, And Not ‘Puffy’

Given the slim design, the Pampers Baby Dry wears very svelte-ly on baby. Not that svelte is a term commonly used to describe baby silhouettes but you know how some pampers, once worn, are very puffy, big and look almost uncomfortable on for these little beings?

Well Pampers is nothing like it and doesn’t seem to obstruct or cause any discomfort between baby’s legs as she totters around the house.

Absorbency & Dryness with Wear

As described in my Pampers Journey #1, these have great absorbency through the night (and day) and even with the Pampers being all soaked up, the surface in contact with baby’s skin still feels relatively dry to the touch.

I don’t have the professional means to do a dry test as well as these guys, so here, have a look!

This is most important as babies can’t tell us what is uncomfortable to them, or rather they may not even know that sitting around in a damp diaper is suppose to be uncomfortable!

Instead of letting them sit through that discomfort thinking it is norm, Pampers helps to ensure that no matter how soaked or full a diaper is (given perhaps it slipped your mind to change or check), baby still feels comfortably dry!

Snug (leak-proof) yet Comfy Seams and Sides

Another important factor to a diaper is how leak-proof it is along with how comfortable they device that factor to be.

Often times, if baby does leak out from her diaper it is because the elastic portions around her thighs aren’t leak-proof enough. Either that or they aren’t as snug fitting. There are also brands who try to prevent leakage from happening by making sure their elastic clings tighter which does eventually lead to pressure marks on baby’s thighs.

Though with Pampers Baby Dry and their double layered seams, you can be assured that baby will feel comfortable while you have an ease of mind.

Seamless Adhesion

Something that is commonly overlooked is how well the diaper is joint.

Why is this important?

Because some brands tend to join the diaper portions together in a fairly lumpy bundle and I can only imagine that wouldn’t be very comfortable to have on.

Perhaps it is just me but I have had experiences with certain clothing (shorts or skirts) that have seams joint together in a fairly lumpy manner and I recall that those don’t feel
very comforta
ble on be it sitting, moving about and all. I can only imagine that it would be the same for lumpy joints on diapers, no matter how soft the material.

With Pampers Baby Dry, the joint is not lumpy at all. The technology they used to seal these 2 pieces together also creates a pretty fancy design, how cool.

Stretchable Ears for Ease & Comfort

Whoever suggested to implement this for Pampers Baby Dry is a genious!

All the diapers I have used prior to this do not have this function and I cannot tell you how much easier having stretchable ears makes things.

It makes it quicker to fasten the diaper (properly) on a wiggling baby, and a lot easier to get the right ‘tightness’ as well knowing that these ears can stretch and it wouldn’t be too restrictive for baby.

Wearing Pampers Baby Dry has definitely reduced any pressure marks and lines caused by tightness from the diapers be it around the thighs or at the tummy (because we usually have to properly secure the diaper for baby given she isn’t the tubbiest).

Baby Safe Material & Adorable Design!

As with the concern of most parents, Pampers Baby Dry is made with baby safe materials be it the cloth to create the diapers, the absorbant gels, or the coloring that goes into it. Pampers is also constantly updating and reinventing their diaper design and the current animal themed one is so adorable.

If you would like to have a peace of mind by reading about what exactly goes in a Pampers, you can read all about it here!

Baby is going through an animal-spotting phase now, being curious and intrigued with animals of all sort so she loves how cute the print is too!

After using Pampers Baby Dry for a good amount of time, I have noticed that these seem to last better and last more comfortably on baby, there is definitely a reduced need and rush to change her diapers through the day. Of course the necessary changing and wiping is still done but we don’t fuss so much about it anymore for fear of baby having a rash or developing redness on her bottoms.

Less diaper changes means less diapers used, which definitely is a good thing over time!

Thus, giving the best always works out well, for the best!

Recharging Yourself

Being the best form of yourself for your little kiddos often means taking some time out for yourself too.You aren’t being a bad parent if you are not by your kid’s side 24 hours a day and every single day.

Sometimes taking time out from baby activities to enjoying your personal hobbies, interests or just taking a break to catch a movie, go cycling, is a big deal and a nice way to remember that you are still your own person.

Hubs and I even went as far as to having a short getaway out of the country (to Tokyo, which you can read about here!) to be romantic and reminisce on how our relationship sans kid was! Though we did miss her and skyped the in-laws every single day…

Some parents feel a sense of guilt leaving their kids in others’ care but if someone is willing to babysit for you, I say go for it! At the very most, give that someone something nice for babysitting your little one be it simple things like snacks or treating them to a meal!

Think of it this way, rather than feel bounded to your kid and eventually developing some frustration or *gasp* resentment towards them for leaving you unable to enjoy yourself while forcing yourself out to be a good parent, don’t forget that we are only human.

Enjoy yourself, be happy and only then can you be a happy, understanding, loving and good parent to your little one.

Trust me, when you are happy, your little one is happy too. When you whole heartedly love them, the little hearts love you just as much or maybe even more.

Be your best, and give your best for they will learn from you and be the best they can be.

Thank you again to Pampers SG and OMY.sg for this Pampers Journey and stay tuned because I have more to come!

In the meanwhile, don’t forget to check out Pampers’s Everyday Me for more Pampers information!

Headlines Hair – Back to Healthy (Looking) Locks!

I think that this is going to be one of my quickest hair posts ever because… it’s really straightforward: I’m going darker and darker with my hair starting to feel healthier and healthier!

It’s funny how it only takes one day, or rather one hair session, to destroy your hair and a whole year after to try and fix it…

As much as I love bleached tones, funky colors and fun stuff on my hair, it’s the simple joy of being able to be fuss-free with your hair that I really miss. I could go without combing my hair, ever. Even when it was at almost-waist length! I do miss that healthiness.

While it was all fun and games, my current modus operandi is to nurse my hair back to health!

I want long and healthy locks that I can hopefully, in future, perm into pretty curls. I definitely can’t do that with my bleached out hair, that’s for sure!

So anyway…

Here’s the belovedly faded purple-ish hair. Byebye, my dear purple ‘do~

On the face:

Lancôme Absolue Sublime Rejuvenating Essence Foundation, Urban Decay NAKED Skin Loose Powder, Dior Backstage Eye Prime, Naked 3, Stila Stay All Day Liquid Liner, MAC Powerpoint Liner in Engraved, Lancôme Hypnôse Star Mascara, Lancôme Blush Subtil in 032 Rouge in Love, Tom Ford Lip color Sheer in Sweet Spot

Time to slather on the darkness and faux healthiness, heh.

Hello you, hidden purple!

Because my hair is a little tricky – the bottom being bleached and a little more stubborn with keeping color, while the top is freshly grown hair and takes / keeps color well, Jerry had to use 2 different tones on my hair to give it a more even look.

This also allowed him to play around with the tones a little even though we’re going dark.

Who said dark had to be boring, yeah?

It starts with applying color to the root-portion first since those require more time to develop.

Followed by the ends!

While waiting for my whole head of color to develop, let’s take a quick commercial break and shift the focus to Hubs who popped by during my visit and got his hair trimmed / shaped by Jerry in the meanwhile.

The Hubs Intermission

The hubs had gone back to black, which he ultimately feels is the easiest even though he admitted the colorful days were a fun experience.

So while hair color is the least of his concerns now, he wanted a little help with the floppy mop his hair had grown out to be. Thus he requested for Jerry to give him a specific sleek ‘do, something similar to what Jerry had styled his own hair to be as well.

Since it was a trim and shape, it was super quick and in no time, Jerry had his hair cut and styled even!

And here I was still sitting with dye in my hair, ha!

The hubs is into this while Brit-inspired (in some semblance) slicked back hair phase and I think it’s quite neat on him.

It actually makes him look his age. I don’t think I revealed this but Hubs is actually nearing 30, nobody seems to believe me when I tell them that…

So anyway, it’s back to me!

After hubs was done, it was my turn to wash out my hair and that’s pretty much it for the whole transformation aspect of things.

Though to continue on the route of hair repair and recovery, I did a quick hair nourishing session which included a hair mask and the cool sci-fi head-steaming machine again.

After all that, ready to see how ‘healthy’ and ‘normal’ my hair has become?

Well, I’ve already disclosed it on instagram so no point throwing suspense on here, tada~

On a side-note, my hair is pretty long now! Objectively speaking, that is…

Jerry suggested to trim it a little but I told him to hold it off, at least until after the Japan trip. I think this current length is most candid-appropriate without much styling fuss required, most ideal for a holiday!

Which would mean I could be getting a fresh chop next visit since… if I can’t play with color, why not play with cut, yes?

Here’s how my hair looks in indoor-lighting:

My hair, while dark, is a mix of 2 colors and intensities.

Instead of the usual of ombre-hocuspocus of having a darker base color and lighter ends, I have mind done the reversed way with darker ends for a more voluminous look, along with a warmer mocha tone closer to the roots to add some highlight and shine to the ‘do.

Onward to the sun, shall we?

In t
he sun, the lower portions aren’t as deep and dark. I also like how the bright sun rays bring out the ashy-green undertones of the deeper color. Jerry specifically went the ashy-green-brown way to try and eliminate what was left of the fading purple bits.

Yes, the wind still wasn’t letting up this time around. I think it’s this particular photo-spot of mine that is exceptionally windy but what can I do, it’s a nice quiet area with good sun (and annoying wind).

All in all, I never thought I would be this happy about ‘normal’ hair again but I am. And a part of me is anticipating the ends to fade a little to leave an odd (yet interesting) ashy highlight running through my hair.

If you have gone through your bout of crazy hair colors and would like to revisit some normalcy, go look Jerry up and I’m sure he can whip up a little something for you!

Urban Decay Turning Up the Brights This Summer!

Urban Decay is a brand I don’t mention prominently on here but is a brand I have encounters with since my youtube-days. It’s the UDPP yo!

I don’t have a lot from the brand, I’ll admit, but I have dabbled in bits and pieces and have loved everything that I have tried thus far. While my hopes would be to eventually immerse myself in all that wonderful UD-goodness, I am happy to take it one little step at a time.

Though if you are an Urban Decay addict and loooove the loud pow-wow colors that defines this edgy urban (hurhur) brand, then you’ve got a little treat heading your way this Summer!

Amping up the levels of pigmentation this Summer, Urban Decay knows no limits with bold bright splashes of color along with shimmery statement glitter.

Summer is the time for brands to embrace color and put their best foot forward in the world of vibrance but I think Urban Decay just knocked everyone (and their eyeshadow palettes) out of the water with their new Electric Eyeshadow Palette.

Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette

Obviously this palette is something that I will admire from a distance and applaud those who dare venture into the little pow-wow wells with an eyeshadow brush.

It’s beautiful but certainly not for me… I can’t werk a lime green and stark purple-blue.

The next item still isn’t really my cup of tea but if you are a loose pigment lover then you might be pleased with the new Heavy Metal offerings that Urban Decay has.

Heavy Metal Loose Glitter

If being neon-bright isn’t enough, these Heavy Metal Loose Glitters will do a good job of blinging your look up with a jewel-encrusted finish.

Paired with Urban Decay’s very own Bondage Weightless Makeup Adhesive, these little babies will have you (or rather your lids) shimmering all night long!

Now, for things that sit a little better in my camp, aka things are are perhaps a little yawn but far more practical, we have some new eye-rimming alternatives with:

  • Ink For Eyes Waterproof Precision Pen – liquid liner, yippee
  • Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner – excites!
  • All Night Eyeliner – retractable, great for carrying out
  • 24/7 Velvet Glide-on Pencil in Black Velvet – love the name, but not sure how this differs from Perversion…

I’m not certain if the slanted-liner brush comes with the Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Cream Eyeliner or is merely promoted with but those two items are things I am eager to check out once this reaches our shores – Urban Decay is available at all Sephora Singapore stores.

I haven’t revisited cream / pot liners in a while and this looks to be a good time to do so!

Thanks for reading! Are you looking forward to any of these items?

p.s. I’ll admit I’m really just a sucker for how cute the pot looks but I don’t think I’m expecting anything less of Urban Decay either!

Benefit Sets Foot in the West – New Store at Westgate!

To say that Jurong is slowly and steadily becoming the town outside of town is true with new and rather well-stocked / assorted malls like JEM and Westgate sprouting out across what used to be plain lands just a few years ago.

I have never disclosed where I reside (I don’t think?) but I guess these days I can proudly say that I am a Westie – born and raised in the west coast. Pretty literally.

Though, back to the point of this entry.

If you are a west-sider and also a fan of Benefit be it their makeup products or their brow services, you would be glad to know that they have set foot in your turf and are sitting quite pretty in Westgate right now (beside Yves Rocher, another brand for another entry).

I popped down with Mabel (of Sheshopsmakeup) for a look-see at the cheer and fun of the store opening and it was quite an evening.

Apart from the cheery colors and decor befitting of Benefit, we had some cabaret performances, the official ribbon cutting along with a pair of chirpy hosts (Munah and Hirizi) who were perfectly in-character as Dr Feel Good and Honestleah.

Not forgetting, Benefit’s iconic mascot ‘Simone’ took to the stage for an opening address.

I think the Benefit team did a great job and went all out to amp up the mood and bring to life Benefit’s tongue-in-cheek personality along with the vibrant burst of colors.

The event was fairly straightforward and not too much for me to report about but it was a job well done and I believe the hectic day and nights of preparation for the store opening really paid off!

Once the ribbon cutting was officiated, we were unleashed upon let in to the store where we got to wander around, play with brand new testers (whoop!) and in the midst of all that, had a little questionnaire to complete for a shot at the Lucky Draw.

The questions were simple enough, pointing to their classics but it was fun no less. The hardest bit was probably this ‘silhouette wheel’ where you had to guess the product of the silhouette you landed on.

Thankfully I landed on a product that was easy to decipher at a glance (the Ultra Radiance Re-hydrating Mist) though upon closer inspection after, most of the silhouettes are quite possible to make out. Save for that one or two really tricky ones!

We played with a couple of photobooth props inbetween and had quite a laugh at the life-size inflatable mascara. I swear that sounds a lot more decent than it could come off.

In all, it was a fun evening and if you’re staying / working in the West region or heading there anytime soon, feel free to drop by the new and shiny Benefit boutique at Westgate (at #02-15)!

There is a dedicated Brow bar so if you are a fan of Benefit’s brow services, you will be glad to know that there is now a closer brow fix to you! Based on my knowledge the only other counters that they do brow services at would be ION Orchard and TANGS?

Overall, I had an enjoyable time at the store opening and am glad for a Benefit boutique closer to home. Probably not a wise thing to disclose but I do frequent the Jurong East area a fair bit on days we want to head out but aren’t too sure where to go.

I’ve had my fair share of encounters with Benefit and while it isn’t frequent, I have loved the products I have tried thus far (Porefessional and Gimme Brow) so do share, what are some of your Benefit loves?

Thanks for reading!
