New & Upcoming From Shu Uemura – Laque Supreme Swatches, Glow Creator Low-down & That Stunning Shu:palette!

Hello you guys!

I’ve got another rambly little update for you and this time it’s for Shu Uemura.

The preview wasn’t an extensive one and you know how when faced with a whole load of new and upcoming products you just get so focused on learning about it and playing with it that you forget to snap everything?

Yeah… that seems to happen to me quite often during previews. Though nonetheless, I still managed some shots of the new and upcoming stuff to Shu Uemura! I’m pretty excited about these Spring releases and I think it’ll interest some of you too!

I’ll be receiving some pieces from Shu Uemura at a later date so, you know the drill, I’ll have more information and pictures of those pieces to come.

Meanwhile, let’s have a look at this brief and (I’m assuming) rambly overview!

Laque Supreme

Starting with something that is already out, the Laque Supreme, which will be added to Shu Uemura’s permanent line up of lip arsenals.

IMG_9292

Off-hand, before I delve into press information about the product, my first impression and thought of it would be whipped, glossy and creamy all at the same time.

While there are some similar products out there looking to transcend the borders between a lipstick, lipgloss, lip lacquer and all (Dior Fluid Stick, YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush and maybe Lancôme Lip Lover, I’m looking at you), I think there’s a place in the makeup universe for all of hybrid formulas that brands seem to be coming up with.

I want to say that the Laque Supreme immediately reminded me of the YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush, which it sorta does in that mildly whipped consistency, but yet it isn’t the same thing at all.

IMG_9293

IMG_9296

IMG_9297

IMG_9298

Firstly the Laque Supremes are solely made for lip use and while they have that lightweight, creamy colored whipped thing going on, these do actually lay down a pretty mean color stain! Unlike YSL which mostly wipes away, save for the few stronger shades.

IMG_9302

The Laque Supremes are quite intriguing and I’ve only had a go at it on the lips one time so far (swatches on the hands otherwise) and it starts out as this cool, lightweight and part glossy part creamy texture but once on the lips, it actually starts to set and that milky light color does deepen.

Hence I will recommend that you try out the color you hone in on on your lips first before deciding.

IMG_9318

During that one occasion I tried this on, I applied it prior to a meal and allowed it a little while to set before I got started eating and even after, I noticed that the color was still evident on my lips. Though I did try a rather neutral shade so I can’t say to what extent did the color remain untouched but I’ll give you a proper review once I get my pieces!

Though long story short, there’s a good amount of variety across the 15 shades that are launched and while the range is pigmented I believe there are a few pieces (was it 3, or 5?) that are Limited Edition shades. I know one of which is the rich deep wine shade (WN1) but otherwise, I’m not sure of the rest.

I’ll update about this again but if anything, this is currently available so do head down to check it out!

Glow Creators

Next up would be the glow creators!

IMG_9327

I know cream glow products doesn’t interest everyone but I will add that this seems to be the latest makeup trend, not that glow was ever out of trend, with brands putting out fresh glowy looks on the runway this season by not only using targeted highlighters but also mixing in glow boosting creams into foundations and dabbing even more to the high points just before the models hit the stage.

Glow can be risky business but I think these days brands are trying to make glow boosting creams a no brainer to use by allowing the finish to look natural yet the shine to still be dewy and bright!

I think amongst the glow boosting creams I’m a little obsesssed with right now, Shu Uemura’s Glow Creators seem to be of a more obvious and higher shine but it could also be due to me blending out a generous dollop across a small surface on my hand so… we’ll have to see how this performs on the face once I have it!

The Glow Creators will be available in 2 shades – Warm Glow and I can’t quite recall the other… Oops. I believe it’s Cool Glow? But basically the difference in the shades would be the color of the shimmers within with Warm Glow obviously lending a soft golden touch while the Other Glow gives a more porcelain radiant finish (more silver).

IMG_9325

Don’t mind the stains the Laque Supreme had left on my hands…

IMG_9324

Both are equally lovely and I’m sure when used in miniscule amounts across the face you may not see a huge difference in tone but I’m guessing most of us will ultimately reach for Warm Glow (unless you’re fair or mildly pink-toned, the other would be more suited) so that could be the most popular one once this launches!

I can’t wait to try this out on my face and showcase that since the swatches above doesn’t show the product in its full glory since it was blended out on a small surface area hence it looks quite concentrated and a little ‘much’.

Shu:palette – Exquisite Neutral Artist Palette!

Now this last one I am most excited about and also beating myself up a little for as I didn’t get to swatch all the shades involved for a thorough showcase but… if anything, all the shades within this Shu:palette are Permanent so I guess you can go check out the shades in the meanwhile if you’re contemplating it.

IMG_9331

So… if all the shades are permanent, why bother with this palette, right?

Well, because it’s incredibly good value for money given the full-sized shadow pans within and it is also a really well curated neutral palette with a mix of textures, tones and depths. I know its impossible to have us just stick to one neutral palette our whole lives but if somehow you need to make that call, I wouldn’t be surprised if this gets the most picks.

IMG_9343

IMG_9344

IMG_9352

The formula and pigmentation of the shadows are beautiful and quality isn’t compromised at all. The case itself feels sturdy enough, a little thin for my liking, but it looks like it should be able to hold its own should you bring it traveling.

IMG_9342

There’s also a synthetic dual-ended brush within, Shu Uemura’s very first dual-ended brush, which works great with picking up colors as well so that could be handy on the go.

IMG_9333

IMG_9335

In all, I think this palette is one to look out for because of how stunning it is and you can never go wrong with browns, right? I’m pass the point of questioning why we need so many brown / neutral palettes in our lives but somehow we just do, right?

IMG_9354

Sadly this will be Limited Edition though knowing the anticipation for this palette, Shu Uemura will start a reservations list a little closer to launch date (1st March 2015, ideally) but I’ll keep you guys posted!

I know I’m looking forward to get my hands on this, are you?

It will retail for S$160 which works out to be S$10 an eyeshadow and that’s not even considering the brush involved and the palette casing as well. I really think it’s not too bad!

So phew, there you go!

There are a couple more lowdowns that we got through the cozy gathering we had with Shu Uemura but I didn’t snap a picture of said collections so I didn’t bother giving much of a mention here though I’ll have some of those products coming in and I think I’ll save my words for the dedicated entry to come!

I think you’ve read quite a lot here already so I’ll let you go for now!

How’s everyone doing? All packed and set for Chinese New Year already? It feels like its happening so fast I haven’t even had time to properly get my things sorted, eeps!

I’m in the midst of a mini relocation (well, from my office desk of 2 plus years back home) and whatnot so I’m assuming that my blogging timelines are going to get a little delayed due to this change. It’s minor but there’s file transferring to and fro so my computer back at home is going to get a little messy for a bit so blogging may take a back seat meanwhile. And maybe an even further backseat once New Job starts… sigh.

We’ll see how it goes, alright?

Thanks for reading!

Urban Decay’s TEN 24/7 Glide-On Liner Set Coming To The Blog (& You) Soon!

Okay, so I’m going to pop on this filler post in the meanwhile to give you a heads up of some content that will be coming to my blog real soon! As soon as I can I hope because time is ticking and New Job is gradually approaching!

I hope to at least get up the stuff that I’ve shot / edited and planned to put up before I disappear from here.

Though in the meanwhile I’m also sorting out some pictures from my recent Bali trip. While I didn’t have a mind to document it, I did snap a good amount of pictures so I suppose, there’s no harm in doing some quick write ups about it so… perhaps that’ll be up soon! Over at the travel blog (icywhims) of course but I’ll do some quick highlights on here and link to that so if you’re intrigued about my Bali trip, hold out for that!

So back to this, if you’re an eyeliner fiend that can never get enough of pencil liners and constantly need more, more, moarrrr liners in your stash then keep a look out for my mini Urban Decay TEN 24/7 Liner Set entry coming to you real soon!

I’m quite a liner obsessed person and while I have my reservations with pencil liners (because my eyes are highly problematic and only the strong, liners, will survive), I’ve come to enjoy using the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Liners as they do work for me.

What’s more they come in such an assortment of colors and variations of a staple color (e.g. 4 different sorts of black, how awesome) that frankly speaking if the 24/7 Glide Ons work for you, they’re all you need really.

But of course the fickle makeup lover in us begs to differ… Heh.

So anyway, I’ll be back with more information about this set and while it isn’t new (it launched in the USA last September I think?), if you’d still like to hear my thoughts about it, see swatches of it and also my take on looks with all ten of these then do stay tuned!

I’m hurrying through my arsenal of pictures to post, so bear with me here!

If you’re getting antsy to know when this will hit stores, last I heard was March so you’ve still got some time to think about this a little more or save up for it!

Thanks for reading!

p.s. Incase you’re wondering, the immediate answer to whether I’ve gotten tan or not is no, not exactly. Maybe my legs but otherwise I think I still look like before. Maybe a little less glaring sort of fair but my foundation still fits, ha!

A Peek at Dior Spring 2015 (Photos & Swatches)

Heyo!

Sorry I’ve been away, somewhat. The busy-ness isn’t letting up yet and I had hopes that things would get a little smoother after this Saturday (a work event) but from the looks of it it seems like a steady stream of things flowing in with very immediate deadliines. Tsk!

Eitherways, I’ll try my very best to come back with more detailed product run downs or features of these items soon. I hope, at least.

Since they are already out at Dior counters (yesss, go check it out), I felt I should at least pop up a mention of the items that I have on hand so if anything catches your eye you can head on down to swatch / check it out.

So, Spring….

DSC08560

I like the idea of Spring where everything is so soft, fluttery and clean. Though where makeup is concerned, Spring is often the least exciting because everything is so soft, so light and so sheer.

For Spring 2015, Dior decided to introduce us to their Kingdom of Color which while fancy isn’t all that colorful.

It’s cute, it’s sophisticated and it’s all very Dior but if your idea of Color is loud, bold and bright then this Kingdom isn’t going to excite you very much.

I’ll get to the rest of the collection’s pieces in a bit but let’s have a look at what I have on hand first.

DSC08557

Starting with one of the more excitable (in theory and buzz) releases from Dior, the Dior Cheek & Lip Glow, this is a multi-purpose product for use on both the cheeks and lips.

The bottle is incredibly adorable, designed much like a lacquer except with that iconic Dior Addict ‘knob’ atop the cap, which by the way is removable for an easier to handle wand grip. See, very much like a polish.

DSC08579

I’m not the biggest fan of cheek and lip multipurpose items because I like my lipsticks and my powder blushes enough but I did take a liking towards YSL’s Baby Doll Kiss & Blush so I guess I was expecting this to stir up my heart in the same manner but it’s sad to say that I felt a little underwhelmed.

P1110003

The first thing you need to know is despite its very intensely saturated outlook, that bright cherry red bottle, the liquid within is sheer and clear. It seems to adopt the concept of a lip and cheek stain except in a more viscous (yet still somewhat watery and light) texture.

P1110005

Though while soft in pigmentation (from what I gathered with hand swatches), this does leave a pretty mean stain and very quickly at that so I’m presuming while it leads you to think it’s all aqeuous and light, you should blend and move fast with it.

DSC08582

I’ll report back on how application works out. Though I’ll say, I do like the adorable ball of an applicator and I think overall it looks cute and very pretty but somehow I just expected a little bit more to sweep me off my feet, or something…

We’ll see what I think about it again once I get to using it on the cheeks and lips. Perhaps it’s a better performer there.

Next up would be some Kohl Liners.

DSC08584

These are fashioned like chubby eye pencils that you can use either to line your eyes with or as a cream colored base for your shadows.

Breaking away from the light and fresh theme of Spring, the shades offered with the Kingdom of Color collection is largely smokey and dark, probably to compensate for the liner portion of this Spring Look.

DSC08586

The ones that we received are Pearly Silver (039) and Smokey Black (099). I think I would work a little better with the Smokey Grey, Smokey Brown or Smokey Blue option (the other colors available) but no matter, lets see what we can do with this Yin and Yang!

P1110010

I’m thinking smokey look but that’s quite standard and boring, right? Let’s see if we can inject a little bit of Spring into all this default smokey-eye-ness.

P1110009

The kohls are quite creamy and nice, saturated enough but not so much so that it slips and slides all over. Though I would still think that it’s a little too creamy for me to feel safe wearing as an eyeliner so perhaps I’ll start with using these as a cream colored base first.

Last but not least, the Dior Nail Polishes!

DSC08583

The only color missing from the lineup is Glory (and apparently one more – Majesty – which flew under my radar) which is a vibrant color that looks like it has its place in Summer collections. It’s not quite a peach, not quite a cherry-red but it’s vibrant and yet milky all the same.

DSC08577

The other color, the one that I have, is Lady – the softer and more demure counterpart.

Lady is a beige pink that seems to look largely pink once swatched but can lean a little beige in some photographs or lighting.

DSC08566

Though the star of the varnish line-up really is that topcoat you see right there, called the Eclosion Topcoat. It looks messy and ‘too much’ from the bottle but trust me once you brush it on it’s quite a spaced out mix of ‘confetti’.

As what a friend of mine said when she saw me swatch it on my week-old manicure just to test it out, it’s like a baby shower party on your nails and that’s not wrong.

It’s no obnoxious, it’s gently done and yet cheery at the same time with the mix of soft pastel confetti pieces. I’m not one who likes to wear glitter or any grit on the nail becuase of the hassle of removal but for this I think I will gladly make an exception.

DSC08588

It’s just too cute! Like everyone who has swatched it would say, it looks like cupcakes on your nails!

I’ll have my turn at swatching it and get back with pictures!

My own pictures aside, here are some official ones with the rest of the pieces of the collection!

There is enough information online so I’m going to skip the press-style entry this time around but as always, if you have any questions feel free to ask away!

Sorry I don’t have the prices of these as I wasn’t provided them and haven’t got the time to pop by a boutique to enquire!

So, that wraps up this brief and initial impression of the Dior Spring 2015 collection.

I have been using some of these for awhile and have formed a bit of an opinion since drafting the outlines of this Overview up but I’ll save my opinions for the individual showcase entries to come! I hope I’ll be able to get to it soon.

I know I haven’t been around as often as I was during the end period of last year but that truly was some spam moment on here and while I enjoyed it, I can’t afford that same time right now. Though I’ll do what I can of course!

I have more entries in mind and a lot drafted, some part edited pictures lying around etc, so I hope to get all of that up as soon as possible, thank you for reading!

The Icky Skin Moment…

Another post about absolutely nothing. No, really.

I should get into the swing of things now but I hate to say it, I think the laze of the Holiday period hasn’t quite shaken off me, even at work. Even though I’m dishing out emails and setting up files for print and web etc (I design at work), I still feel this lull about me, like I’m dragging my feet about through the day and all – how annoying.

I wish there was a pill to take to shake off the procrastination and sluggishness and to just get the brain into the full swing of things! Yeah, caffeine hasn’t been able to thus far either.

But anyhoo, this post is about my ailing skin condition right now and I have no darned idea why. My skin is failing on me and frankly, it isn’t that bad. It’s just a couple of spots popping up (like freaking all over…) but thankfully they aren’t scabby or have burst into a hot itchy mess on my skin etc.

They’re just bumpy and a little irritated, some itch when I perspire. Ugh, it’s all just so gross and throwing me off putting makeup on. I mean, I don’t know how I used to do it cause I know my skin used to be less than perfect, bumpy and all but I threw on makeup (crazy thick foundation too, eugh) as per normal.

These few days I’ve been going easy with sunblock and tinted moisturizer. I try to dress my lids up and keep the cheeks and lips natural cause I don’t want to draw attention to my skin and all.

Long story short, I want to do looks for you but I’m just feeling too icky about it. I have some that I had snapped before my sudden skin eruption (that happened over this weekend) so I’ll still post those up in the meanwhile and hope my skin gets better by then!

I think this outbreak is likely due to hormones getting out of hand because I’m not using anything new nor have I eaten anything random enough to cause allergies – and yes hormones but no not pregnant, I checked (tmi, but incase anyone asked).

So yes, I hope it’s my skin purging the bad of 2014 and welcoming 2015 with a new skin or something. Super lame, I know but that’s optimism, right? Heh!

Incase you’re wondering, no pictures obviously because zits aren’t pretty things to show but really, it isn’t that bad either.

Tell me, does anyone have tips on soothing irritated and bumpy skin? To rid the itch or to maybe help dry the spots up? I’m using Ettusais’s spot treatment now but these buggers are tenacious! Which means it’s hormones right?

But it doesn’t stop them from being so annoying :(

On a happier note, I solved one problem and that being the red eye syndrome you’ve seen on the blog (in LOTDs especially). I dropped by the clinic and am referred to see a specialist but until then I’ve got these amazing eye drops that get rid of redness in a *snap*.

Random ramble aside, I promise more beauty entries soon, here’s a preview of my first 2015 ‘launch / goodies’ post to come!

Okie dokes, I’m gonna go restart my brain for the umpteenth time and hope it’s on the right track this time!

Thanks for reading!

The Upcoming Low Down – On The Blog & With My Life!

Okay, so here’s the deal and what’s up and coming on this little space of mine.

I feel that this entry is redundant but yet it’s one of those little pep talk sessions where you sit around with your team and you go through the tasks, timetable, etc to brief everyone of their task and at the same time it’s also for you to have another run down (mentally and verbally) of the matters on hand and ensure that they get tackled and completed.

While nothing is expected of you guys of course, except to check back if you’re interested in the content to come, this serves as a little summary and reminder to myself on what to put up before I vanish for a week (I’ll touch on that in a bit).

It’s not a complete disaparation where I disappear into the black hole and you hear nothing from me for a week sort of a vanish but it will be tough to get my hands on technology and that includes my phone.

So, anyway, I’ll get to it but let’s read on!

So anyway, after that long and unneeded introduction for this already rather unnecessary post I thought I would give you an idea of what to expect next week and also the week after.

Given that Naked On the Run (a palette I’m pretty psyched about myself) is launching on the 5th of December, that’s next Friday for you, I’ll be doing the whole ‘dedicating the week to this product’ sort of a deal for it.

So next week it’s all about being Naked and being On the Run!

You know, because it’s what most people are looking out for, amirite?

If you haven’t already heard, there are great gifts up for grabs for those who are first (few) in line to get their hands on the Naked On the Run palette so head here to be well acquainted with that before checking back next week for the low-down (and looks).

After which I’ll be giving the MAC Holiday collection a well deserved mention because it seems like a lot of people are intrigued in that. My MAC Overview post in itself garnered a lot of views and likes when it went live and I didn’t even bother with a shoutout on instagram for that one.

So yes, serving the folks, I’ll put up in depth entries of each products and those entries are likely to be pre-drafted and scheduled because the week after, I’m actually going to be home-bound since my inlaws are traveling and it’s turn for me and hubs to babysit Baby K.

Though this time it’s going to be a little trickier and tougher because in the past we’ll simply bunk over at my parents place but this time, within this duration, the parents are facing some reno works in their area so we decided against a staycation at their place.

Instead, hubs and I are going to wing it. Us, alone with baby. Let’s see how this works out alright?

Yes we are grown adults but in some ways we have been nicely pampered where meals, laundry and whatnot are concerned so… this will truly be a simulation on how life is going to be once we move on, in future – if ever.

Which is why, as mentioned above, it’ll be trickier for some me-time and just be on my computer or phone because if hubs isn’t watching baby, I’ll be.

Plus she’s quite a torpedo when it comes to grabbing things she should not and going places she should not. So yeah…

We’ll see how it goes but as mentioned I’ll schedule stuff on here so it’s not radio silence but I can’t speak for sure about my social platforms since I doubt I’ll even have proper content to post apart from – baby’s porridge of the day, my PJs ootd today, etc.

Heh!

But anyway,  I’m rambling far too much over this so, yeah, I hope this gives you an idea of what to expect and hopefully these are things you are interested to read up about!

I anticipate any looks with MAC products to come in the next next next week since there are a few products to go through and, as convenient as it’ll be, I don’t want to spam up you guys too much with a post everyday (plus that’s a heck load to go through and schedule).

We’ll see how it goes but regardless, no matter how busy I get (next week at work or next next with baby) I’m going to make it seem like I was never gone. Muaha~

Thanks for reading this pointless post but hey, good pep talk right? ;)

Meeting Troy Surratt, Plus Surratt Mentions to Come!

Hello everyone!

Hope the weekend was awesome for all! I spent it running a couple of errands and it doesn’t help that end-of-year is bogged with birthday celebrations on top of the already gifting-filled festivities so yes, loads to sort and loads to do!

But before I went into my fairly beauty-free weekend (just the usual slap-and-go weekend face – might want to do an update on this!) I had the honor and privilege of meeting and speaking to a Makeup Maestro – Troy Surratt of Surratt Beauty!

I appreciate the quiet, casual and intimate meet up where I got to speak with Troy 1 one 1 without having to jostle with a crowd or speak over journalists / editors that may have a job to do as opposed to my own conversations spawned of personal interest, not so much because I have an article to put out.

Given that, of course I had to grab a photo with him too right? Who knows, the next time he’s back it could be a full out proper press event whereby it would be almost impossible to speak to him much less grab a picture then, yes?

So anyway, before I proceed I would like to say that the initial plan was to talk about Shupette today but I’ll have that scheduled for tomorrow instead, alright?

Let me bask in the thought of having met Troy Surratt last Friday a little longer because it’s not everyday you meet the founder of an established makeup brand and get to talk makeup and dig out some exclusive information on where the brand is headed in terms of products and direction!

I don’t believe I’m permitted to reveal it all – he did disclose it out of goodwill seeing my interest and excitement – but I guess all I can say is that the brand is truly starting to shape up and it’s so awesome to be able to witness it grow from a (really gifted) baby to now a blooming personality.

It’s amazing, really, and the fact that Troy (despite his brand’s success and coverage) is all humble about it genuinely pleased and appreciative when his products are being praised is really heartwarming to me.

It’s been about a year since the launch of Surratt and the brand has done pretty well, from what I gather at least, yet that doesn’t stop Troy from being constantly curious on ways he can continue to improve and expand the brand to satisfy his own beauty benchmarks and goals for the brand, which in turn turns out to be great for us because what we get here are well thought out products with superb quality and usability in them.

I mean, the brand even has a teeny tiny mascara solely for bottom lashes – complete with a smaller spoolie head and a formula that prevents messiness upon application. If that’s not well thought out I don’t know what is!

p.s.

I didn’t explicitly mention but for those who may not know, Troy Surratt is actually Kevyn Aucoin’s Protege and they have close relations, working together for a long time. It’s a known fact but one I didn’t think to disclose as I was introducing him because at this point he (Troy) is famed enough to stand on his own without that title constantly attached to him (at the point of intro) but of course it is a good bit of his history to learn after all has been introduced about him.

Upcoming – The Brushes & Spring 2015

Alright, I don’t want to ramble and gush too much about my own excitement in having met Troy, so let me move on to talk but to sum it all up, I guess you could say that after having met and spoken to the founder of a brand like Surratt, I have attained a new level of admiration for both the man and the brand.

So, moving on to something that would interest you all a little more, upcoming stuff!

I can’t say too much really because we weren’t formally introduced to the items that would be coming up and a lot of it is actually hush hush for now, in the works and all so let me kick this off talking about something that is confirmed and already launched in some parts of the world – Surratt Beauty makeup brushes!

At first I wasn’t sure if we will ever get a piece (or a few pieces) of these given, you really never know when a brand is being represented and distributed and not here ‘on their own’ if that makes sense, but turns out, yes we will get them eventually!

Stocks aren’t in yet but if you’re looking to cop a feel of how delicately soft and fluffy these are, there is a tester set available for your feeling pleasure at the Surratt counter over at Takashimaya.

I’ve done my fair share of stroking these beauties and I’m just waiting for them to be out already.

The face brushes are the ones that catch my fancy a little more because that blush brush (2nd from left) and highlighter brush (4th from left) both look so good.

The eyebrushes aren’t too bad but the ones present seemed a little big and fluffy for my eye area though it’s good to note that we don’t have the smallest blending brush (amongst the testers) yet.

No I don’t have Spring visuals, so have some of Surratt’s Fall look instead, heh!

The confirmed aside, I guess Troy wouldn’t mind it too much if I snuck in some Spring mentions because it’s pretty exciting business!

See, I’m sorry, I’m quite horrid at keeping beauty secrets. Heh!

For Spring we’re looking at bases (finally!) and also some lips – mainly the Lip Crayons which I personally prefer. The lipsliques are lovely for that sheer juicy pout but I love me some intense saturation and I can never turn down a vibrant colored matte lip look – très chic.

The one shade I’m eyeing (that’s coming in Spring) is a orange-orange lip color that is endearingly named after Troy’s little pup, Clementine!

Purple Divider

Okay I think I’ve said enough and I really let myself ramble away in this post. My bad!

Apart from the chat and photo, I got to take some pieces back with me add to my humble yet already growing stash of Surratt. Troy selected a couple of bold lip crayon shades for me after learning that I preferred the look that these give to the lipsliques and that bold lips are typically the way I go.

Okay, maybe I’m in a bit of a lazy neutral rut these days but it’s so easy to go back to bold lips when you’re feeling uninspired.

Lips aside, I also marveled at the brow liner when he was talking about it so he placed that into my bag as well.

So this is where my Surratt stash stands at as of now!

I have some snaps and looks done up prior to meeting Troy and acquiring these new items so I’ll probably still put those up as planned and if anything, I may even throw on another look after the mention of these new items!

I mean… I don’t think anyone is opposed to a Surratt spam, right?

If anything, if you’re super eager to read about Surratt first, I do have an overview posted a while ago so check that if you haven’t!

Interestingly, I was told that the counter-space that we have here (at Takashimaya) is more luxuriously spaced than small and cramped counter-top they have in New York. But I suppose that’s a given, since real estate is a lot pricier there – Troy’s joke, not mine!

Though I heard that they are given a fair enough treatment at Liberty in London so, if you’re ever heading there this end of year, it’s probably worth checking their space out there too (and the brushes)!

That said, I’ll leave all this about Surratt here for now and head on over to give Shupette it’s worthy mention before coming back to this.

Given how much there is to mention these days and how much there is within each mention – e.g. the many products within Shupette and such – I feel some sort of orderliness in grouping the mentions together for easier reference and flow, I assume? Rather than hoping about too much and leaving the readers confused about what I could be talking about this time around.

Though of course it’s not like a product will be swept under the carpet once it’s dedicated mention is over. If anything, you all know how it goes on here, I often dig up oldies to rediscover and re-feature even if it means taunting you about Limited Edition goods, heh!

So anyway thank you for reading! We’re on to everyone’s favorite kitty cat tomorrow :)

Oh No… Spikes, Spikes Errrwhere~

I could be the minority in this situation but… I don’t know about you though I felt a sense of dread, a sigh and also a little bit of an eyeroll that I managed to hold back when I caught wind about the upcoming Christian Louboutin Nail Polish collection.

Sure, there was the signature red polish that they have already launched (right am I?) in the USA that a good number of beauty bloggers had spoken about.

It’s this one here, in case you’ve missed it.

Yes it’s a bit excessive but it’s very Louboutin in a way. That red, the spikes, the over-the-top-ness and edginess, so all that I can forgive.

But now, there are talks that Christian Louboutin would be launching a 30 piece nail polish collection featuring a whole range of colors from poppy and cheery brights to moody and sultry dark colors, which frankly do look like a nice mix of shades.

Okay fine, I’ll admit, those cream shades look absolutely delicious…

Though I have one problem with this range of polishes, and that would be that spike.

I know many love it for being so edgy but I feel it is extremely excessive, and not to mention, incredibly difficult to store!

So while I haven’t actually gotten my hands on these to try, I can’t help but feel like this is yet another fashion label looking to bang on the cosmetic buck but then again… there’s no such thing as too much polish in the world, right?

While I can’t say I’m 100% on board with the Louboutin polish phase, I am intrigued, and curious but I sure as hell hope that somehow Louboutin would tweak the design of his bottles and make that ginormous spike removable ala the usual nail polish caps because carrying these bottles around otherwise could prove quite murderous!

Though knowing Christian Louboutin (the man who said that he dislikes the idea of comfort for shoes), I doubt we will see practicality and ease being incorporated into a design. It’s all about being high, high fashion.

So, tell me, what do you think about this Louboutin polish range? Any thoughts on the Louboutin polishes so far?

Urban Decay Turning Up the Brights This Summer!

Urban Decay is a brand I don’t mention prominently on here but is a brand I have encounters with since my youtube-days. It’s the UDPP yo!

I don’t have a lot from the brand, I’ll admit, but I have dabbled in bits and pieces and have loved everything that I have tried thus far. While my hopes would be to eventually immerse myself in all that wonderful UD-goodness, I am happy to take it one little step at a time.

Though if you are an Urban Decay addict and loooove the loud pow-wow colors that defines this edgy urban (hurhur) brand, then you’ve got a little treat heading your way this Summer!

Amping up the levels of pigmentation this Summer, Urban Decay knows no limits with bold bright splashes of color along with shimmery statement glitter.

Summer is the time for brands to embrace color and put their best foot forward in the world of vibrance but I think Urban Decay just knocked everyone (and their eyeshadow palettes) out of the water with their new Electric Eyeshadow Palette.

Urban Decay Electric Pressed Pigment Palette

Obviously this palette is something that I will admire from a distance and applaud those who dare venture into the little pow-wow wells with an eyeshadow brush.

It’s beautiful but certainly not for me… I can’t werk a lime green and stark purple-blue.

The next item still isn’t really my cup of tea but if you are a loose pigment lover then you might be pleased with the new Heavy Metal offerings that Urban Decay has.

Heavy Metal Loose Glitter

If being neon-bright isn’t enough, these Heavy Metal Loose Glitters will do a good job of blinging your look up with a jewel-encrusted finish.

Paired with Urban Decay’s very own Bondage Weightless Makeup Adhesive, these little babies will have you (or rather your lids) shimmering all night long!

Now, for things that sit a little better in my camp, aka things are are perhaps a little yawn but far more practical, we have some new eye-rimming alternatives with:

  • Ink For Eyes Waterproof Precision Pen – liquid liner, yippee
  • Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Waterproof Cream Eyeliner – excites!
  • All Night Eyeliner – retractable, great for carrying out
  • 24/7 Velvet Glide-on Pencil in Black Velvet – love the name, but not sure how this differs from Perversion…

I’m not certain if the slanted-liner brush comes with the Super-Saturated Ultra Intense Cream Eyeliner or is merely promoted with but those two items are things I am eager to check out once this reaches our shores – Urban Decay is available at all Sephora Singapore stores.

I haven’t revisited cream / pot liners in a while and this looks to be a good time to do so!

Thanks for reading! Are you looking forward to any of these items?

p.s. I’ll admit I’m really just a sucker for how cute the pot looks but I don’t think I’m expecting anything less of Urban Decay either!

YSL Spring is coming your way + Limited Edition CNY Palette!

With the new year, it’s time to kick start the cycle of trends once more!

While we’re barely one foot through the door of 2014, Spring has been creeping up on us the whole time we were singing Christmas carols and cheering the holiday season.

Here’s a quick group peek at some the generous ‘gold bars’ that YSL had provided me!

I’ve got a fair bit of straightening out to do at work but I’ll give you a low down on YSL’s upcoming Spring collection as soon as I can!

In the meanwhile, you may want to keep your eyes peeled on a special Chinese New Year collectors palette coming to YSL boutiques real soon. I’ve heard that quantities are limited so grab if you fancy!

I don’t know of the launch date but you can stalk call up the counters to check.

Sorry for the low-res imagery, pictures were grabbed off Selfridges. I am surprised to see this Beauty Blossom Collectors palette available there, since it is a Chinese New Year exclusive but given that it is pretty and covetable enough, regardless if you celebrate this festive occassion or not.

With that said, I’m back to busying about my business. Loads to straighten out for 2014 and hopefully (fingers and toes crossed) this big project I’m working on kicks off well, I can’t wait to present it to you all but for now… it needs loads more tweaking.

Thanks for reading and I’ll catch up with you all soon!
